Remember all the doom and gloom surrounding Facebook buying OculusVR? Well nothing has really changed, and thankfully they are still being a great company. They have recently purchased RakNet, a cross platform C++ networking engine and they open sourced the damn thing.

So, hats off to OculusVR for doing this, as it's quite a popular middleware used by some big names like Sony Online Entertainment, Unity, Mojang, Havok and quite a few more.

The source is now on github under a BSD style license.

This puts OculusVR firmly in my good books right now, as such an important and widely used library now being so open is quite big news.

About
For those unfamiliar with RakNet, it is a comprehensive C++ game networking engine designed for ease of use and performance. The tech is tuned for cross-platform, high-performance applications that operate across a wide variety of network types. Key features include object replication, remote procedure calls, patching, secure connections, voice chat, and real-time SQL logging. The technology has been licensed by thousands of indie developers, as well as companies like Unity, Havok, Mojang, Maxis and Sony Online Entertainment. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Wow, that is quite old :)
I must note, Facebook has always been quite open-source friendly, and their financial model is quite the same as Google.
I won't trust Facebook with my personal data, but if people are willing to do so, I won't prevent them to do so (I may warn them, though)

I've removed the code from the comment thanks for letting us know.

I also can't help but think if you are going to be putting up random free codes you would be better off posting it in the forums rather than on unrelated article comments.
