Open Source UFO: Alien Invasion 2.5 Released

By Guest -
After more than two years of development, the team behind UFO: Alien Invasion has finally released a new stable version of their open source tactics game.

UFO: Alien Invasion is a squad-based tactical strategy game in the tradition of the old X-COM PC games, but with a twist. Our game combines military realism with hard science-fiction and the weirdness of an alien invasion. The carefully constructed turn-based system gives you pin-point control of your squad while maintaining a sense of pace and danger.

Release 2.5 brings next to more content such as weapons, enemies and new character models also some significant changes, namely a wounds and encumbrance system as well as some major rebalancing of weapons and changes to the tech tree in general. There was also quite some work done under the hood which improves now the rendering performance and enemy AI and much more.

A download link to the game, as well as a wiki and forum can be found on www.ufoai.org

Don't worry. The new version will be available soon in (maybe unofficial) repositories for all the mayor distributions. I suppose they'll update the build available in Desura too.
