Brand new to Linux is a funny little game called So Many Me. The game is a charming puzzle platformer that has great visuals and a chirpy main character.

The port itself so far as I can see is solid, but it's hard to imagine a platformer built in Unity that somehow isn't fluent on Linux, as Unity seems to be a decent engine for these types of games. Gamepad support was an instant success too, so this enabled me to sit back and relax with a 360 gamepad instantly picked up after starting the game, and things like that make me very happy. I don't get why a lot of PC gamers huff about gamepads, as platformers are so much nicer to play with a gamepad.

The game oozes charm from every corner from bright and colourful graphics to amusing banter between the characters. You see yourself off to save the world, and as you go you find eggs of your clones to unlock more amusing banter, and to give you more minions to turn into stone as you see fit. I should probably explain the stone part a little too. So your main ability is turning all your little friends into stone to either climb all over, or to keep them still on a button to open a door to somewhere. The interesting mechanic in this game is that you can keep using the same clone over and over to turn into stone, and this allows you to get higher or further while not touching your other clones. You need to be quick while doing that though, as it can get tricky.

The puzzles in the game are reasonably easy early on with the main difficulty is getting the timing right on your jumping, and trying to get all those unlocks can sometimes leave you wasting a good 10 minutes just trying to get the jumps right. As you progress the puzzles do get more and more elaborate though and some actually took a bit of thinking to solve properly.

You can even unlock things as you go by finding little shopping bags, and the unlocks are quite funny, as I even managed to find a fez! Wohoo, so naturally all of my little minions now wear a fez, and it's glorious.

Once you progress a little you will also find that you can perform some amusing transformations, like this dinosaurs who can wag his cute little tail to destroy things blocking your path:

There are a few transformations you can do which keeps the game quite interesting.

Oh and boss monsters, yes the game even has them.

Although the first boss was surprisingly easy, it was still a pleasure to play

Then the game gets a little bigger after that, as you get access to crafting in a special area between worlds. The first thing you can craft makes your character roll as he jumps, and I've no idea what it does, but it looks cool.

I can easily recommend this one, and I'm not the biggest fan of puzzle platformers usually due to how many we have, but So Many Me is different enough to be quite interesting. It reminds me of how well done Nintendo platformers are, but more interesting.

So, check it out on Steam if you like what you hear. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

This looks great. I'll probably pick this up eventually.
