AI War: Fleet Command has been officially released for Linux and that makes it Arcen Games full collection. AI War is an interesting take on the strategy genre and what I lovingly call Icon Wars.

One handy feature of the game is zooming out to see icons, and a lot of the time given the size of your fleets this become necessary to see the overall picture, and so I lovingly call it Icon Wars which is something it shares with games like Supreme Commander and Planetary Annihilation.

The game has six, yes six expansions available for it, so if you complete the main game be sure to check out some of the crazy expansions. Each expansion seems to add rather a lot of content for not a lot of dosh too, so they look to be worth it.

Sadly only their new expansion pack shows up in the Linux section new releases as the original game isn't new to Steam (How can they seriously have not sorted that out yet?!). Due to that issue they need a bit of extra exposure for bringing all their games to us.

Check out AI War: Fleet Command on Steam now.

Our caster Samsai has a copy ready to video, so expect some more in depth thoughts and a video to show it off sometime soon.

There is also a version on GOG and it is a bit cheaper at least for europeans like me (€16.99(steam) -> $16.99(gog))

I've got it, I just can't get my head round it & end up being wiped out in the first couple of minutes.

It's a really difficult game. Been trying to understand it for days but so far I haven't made much progress.

Hi Liam,

Quite off topic but great to see that you could get back, because you're doing an amazing job on GOL. Anyway I hope things are fine for you now.

This is a game you have to spend a few hours on its wiki to even begin to understand it; Dominions 4 is easier to pick up.

There is reward aplenty once you figure out the interface and how to play a game and do anything but get blown away.

And great to see you, Liam!
