Black The Fall Now On Linux In Early Access

Black The Fall seems to have suffered the same problem a few games do when they add a Linux version to an existing game on Steam, and that's zero exposure. So, it was one even we managed to miss.

We had to wait a few days for the usual "missing executable" issue to be sorted out after we contacted the developers, so here we are to take a look at Black The Fall. Something to remember first of all is that it is an Early Access game, so it will be incomplete!

The visuals are very close to that of Limbo, and that's a good thing as I love the dark visuals in Black The Fall. It also seems like it can be quite gory at times with traps being set off hitting enemies and blood spurting everywhere right at the start. You can also beat what look like zombies with a pole, or get a head-shot with a gun for plenty more blood. It does look quite good to have red blood spurting out in a black and white world.

It's a little interesting to play, but currently the world feels very empty and lifeless, and while I get that's what they are going for it somehow feels boring right now. For a game trying to be atmospheric it's quite the opposite right now.

You die instantly if an enemy touches you and that's quite frustrating as your character seems very sluggish to react, and some of the animations are a bit off with my character seemingly crouching and with no animation I was able to hit an enemy, so it has a few kinks. After dying once or twice from my character being too slow to react my gun seemingly vanished from the game world too making it hard to progress.

As for puzzle elements, so far they have all be extremely simple too, so it doesn't have that going for it right now either.

With it being an Early Access title it should improve over time though.

About
Black The Fall is an atmospheric side-scrolling shooter with puzzle solving elements. An odd and unexpected black and white dream inspired by a childhood passed behind the Iron Curtain.

Check out Black The Fall on Steam now if you dare. Personally I would wait a while for it to be more complete. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

The full trailer makes it look interesting, but then so did Spate's, and that game I found very boring. I'll pass for now.

I'm getting more of a "Monochroma with shooting" feeling from this. I've had it on my Steam wishlist since @SteamDB_Linux tweeted Linux support.

It looks like the developers took Another World & gave it a Limbo makeover, that's not a bad thing as it's being added to my wishlist right now.
