Borderlands: The Pre-sequel Looks Like It May Come To Linux (UPDATED)

The people here commenting are aware that this Pre-Sequel is, while using the Borderlands name, closer to The Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us in terms of gameplay, right? It's made by telltale if I recall correctly. And that should make it a good deal more worth watching for me than the other games using the name. I'd like to know if either Walking Dead or Wolf Among Us might be coming to linux as well.

Man, that's a shame. NV had a great story and quests. It was a massive step up from Fallout 3.

BL2 is a similar huge jump from BL1 if not bigger - not sure what your objection is to the inventory system... it's been over a year since I played it but don't remember any inventory-related annoyances.

If this happens, I'd love to see a Metro-style redux for BL1/2. I'd buy both games again, happily.

i guess sequels just dont work for me, especially if they use the same engine. when i play and finish a game i get the satisfying feeling that its completed and i can move on. its like watching a a good movie that for some $ reason needs a successor no matter what - i cant tell any example where i thought "good thing they made a 2nd one right afterwards" unless it was meant to be like that right off the start like in starwars or lotr.
i have not enjoyed fallout2 after fallout1, not kotor2 after kotor1, not dragonage2 after 1 and so on.. the list is endless. i just feel like i would touch something again without any need that i didnt leave uncompleted. that might not be the case for others, im pretty sure of that - but for me it is. it totally works tho when the game is done new from the scratch like the elder scrolls series does it.

No, I agree - there's a lot of poor sequels out there and you just quoted a few of them. But some are superb sequels, even when they use the same game mechanics or even much the same engine.

e.g. NV, BL2, sure, but also Baldur's Gate 2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Portal 2, Sanctum 2, The Witcher 2, Crysis 2, HalfLife 2, Metro 2033, DOTA2, Just Cause 2. So, yeah. And those are just from my Steam games list. There are probably other, older games like Descent 2 and Dungeon Keeper 2 that I have lying around somewhere in box form.

Of course some of those aren't just churning out more of the same, but many are. I don't have a problem with that as long as the content is good.

Ah well, I guess that can be said about the entire Call Of Duty franchise as well. :)

The point, for someone who's finished the first two, can be summed up in two words: More content.
New locations, new mobs, new characters... You know. More of the same, isn't that exactly what fans want?

call me crazy but for most of your list i also disliked the 2nd one in comparison to the first. they were not bad games at all but just didnt have the "wow" effect of the first game at all but were merly gutless successors to their inspiring and innovative parents (especially true for portal2, borderlands2, NV, and crysis2).

to keep it ontopic i didnt feel like borderlands 2 was much of an improvement over borderlands 1. the pc controlls were worse due to more focus on consoles which was particularly evident in the bad inventory that sometimes wouldnt even register mouseclicks. of course it was better in many aspects and just.. more of everything that was good about borderlands1. but thats what i would expect off an addon (and i rarely buy those) and not of a new game. i literally hate what is done in the Fifa series or CoD and i feel like this is happening here all over again. i see that third installment of borderlands and all i can think of how good having a fresh engine and new characters to interact with for a successor feels. i dont expect something to turn into a racing game all of the sudden but i expect something to happen like it did in halflife2, oblivion, skyrim, fallout3 when i shall spend full prize on a game.

Save yourself, do what I've decided to do and never go to that site again. Don't read the comments, it's a lot like megagames, but with moderated comments. No less idiotic comments though. "It's not "next gen" if it's not on a bloody stinking console, it's just not good enough, linux? wtf is that?"

I'm still waiting for Witcher 3 (pleased with the Witcher 2 port so far, I seem to get good performance out of it where others seem not to) and Shogun 2 Total War. Plus two Kickstarters, The Mandate and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
