There's a new game in town for those of you who like to be scared out of your minds by ghosts and supernatural events. And it looks quite terrifying.
DreadOut by Digital Happiness is a third-person supernatural horror game where you play as Linda, a student who wanders into an abandoned town after her groups goes astray on a field trip. But the town holds terrible secrets and the group manages to wake up the evil forces lurking in the darkness.
Equipped only with your wits and your trusty smart phone, you must face the scary encounters with supernatural forces and solve the puzzles that are blocking your path.
This one looks quite interesting and also really scary. In fact it seems so scary that I will probably skip it, because I don't think I'd be able to play it more than a couple of minutes. But if you are more capable of playing horror games, this might be something to check out. The trailers look good and the reviews on Steam are mostly positive.
It's also worth noting that the developers are actively fixing any Linux-related bugs. One of our community members, Xpander69, reported a bug on the Steam forum and a fix was released in two hours. This is how support is done, people!

Maybe not on Steam, but there actually is a Linux demo: http://dreadout.com/#demo
Shame it's only in the form of a .deb package...

oohh. I did not use my ninja google skills ;)
/me cracks knuckles, and gets to work =)
*UPDATE.
Well that was easy.. I just grabbed the game out of the deb and put it in my games folder and launched it. I have other unity games I run without steam so I kinda figured I would already have the dependencies covered.

For those who care about professional reviewers opinion; This game has a metascore of barely 50.
Just sayin'. :)

I don't care about metascores, it doesn't tell me anything. I prefer video reviews or demos to check out games. That way I can get a much better picture of what the game is about and if I will like it.

professional reviewers? that is pure example of Nickelback effect
i can only remember 1 or 2 games where my favourite games were above 85, most being under 70, some even under 50. i can also remember whole lot of almost 100 that sucked as hell. take AC for example, they put so much in graphics, they forgot they are making game and not movie.
when i see someone putting grade on review, i simply don't click on it. same as i don't care about trailers. google "gamex gameplay video" and there is your score. if you like it, buy it, if you don't, don't

this goes for almost all media.. games.. movies.. music..
When it comes to sites like metacritic I don't even read the the critic reviews, I go straight for the user reviews.. then I look for a demo.. if no demo.. torrent. Legality aside.. wait.. no i just dont care. Dont want me torrenting your game.. make a demo available, its that simple.. oh yea and make it good =) ill buy it. I hate dealing with cracks and tracking down updates. That alone makes purchasing things worth it to me.

Already finish act 1 is actually pretty cool. Not at same level of amnesia, but creepy as hell. Thailand is great in horror stories!

i stand corrected, game is better than FF/PZ. though graphically quite below average probably, sound and scares are absolutely perfect in creating awesome atmosphere
one thing i like is that there is no usual cheap scare like everywhere else, where something jumps at you with loud noise. it is a non stop tension, which is something FF never really succeeded

I've been waiting for this game release since it has been greenlighted. Old school survival horror is my favorite genre, so the only criticism about Dreadout that could dissuade me from buying it is that it's too short. The developers are reportedly already working on it, so it's definitely in my buying list!
they are working on episode 2, not on extending this one.

ok, that's awesome. even 1 only was more than worth its money.
