Happy Birthday...Linux!

By -
23 years ago today Linux was officially born into the world. It's time to get your party hats out and play some Linux games.

Without Linux my own personal life would probably be very different, and I imagine this is the same for a great many people especially Linus. I wonder what he would be doing if Linux wasn't as big as it is now.

Now who said they were bringing cake? There's never enough cake around these parts...

How will you be celebrating?

I must say I love that photoshopped image of Linus. I think I'll play some more Jedi Outcast today. And perhaps work on a game decompression cache.

Quoting: BomyneAccording to Wikipedia, linux was released 5th of October 1991... So i'm a little confused.

I believe he is going by the announcement date:

Quoting: toorBroken Cinnamon? Using it, and sometimes it freezes, that's what you are talking about?

Nah, many things happened actually.... many things have been happening for months which prevented me from using that PC during all that time.... the last "thing" was that basically, aside from the lack of direct rendering preventing me from playing any Steam game, the desktop background and the panel were just not appearing at all, which, of course, limited a lot my use of the OS and I preferred to just stay with my laptop....
Then I just decided to download and install AMD's new beta driver yesterday and now the PC works fine and it seems to be even performing better than ever before....
For the first time ever HL2E1 ran with no lag and even Witcher 2 is running fine on medium settings! :D
See, AMD? That is what happens when you make a good driver.... was is that hard?
