Ioquake3 FPS Game Engine Switching Over to SDL2

By -
Not major news, but an SDL upgrade good news nonetheless. Ioquake3 is the heavily modified engine that was originally used for the Quake III Arena game.

It's good to see older game engines get some newer kit inside them, and SDL2 can help with things like multi-screen support which for a lot of games on Linux can be quite annoying.

There are a few interesting games that use the engine like Turtle Arena and World of Padman.

You can follow their progress on their github. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Good news for me. I'm surprised it wasn't SDL2 before. Very useful for us on 3 screens and want to mod the engine.

Why does everyone choose to show Turtle Arena... :P

At any rate, this is good news, especially for people who still regularly play Quake III like myself.
