Strife is the brand new free to play MOBA from S2 Games who created Heroes Of Newerth, Savage & Savage 2. Is it any better than other MOBA's though? The game is of course Linux native and has been since the start, so as usual S2 Games are big Linux supporters.
First of all to note is that it's a completely free game, but it does have microtransactions. You can unlock a permanent account boost to level up outside the game quicker as Strife features profile "levels" which allow you to level up your pets and craft items, and you can also unlock different skins for characters and pets using gems purchased with real monies.
We have played Strife over at GOL a fair bit as we have been around it since the early closed beta tests, and we found it to be an enjoyable mix of Dota 2 and League of Legends, but sadly the community is still pretty toxic. I do however enjoy playing Strife more than I do Dota 2 due to nifty features like a personal courier (so no more arguing over who tok the courier first).
Strife does bring a few other fresh ideas to the table and a slightly different gameplay style over Dota 2 for Linux gamers, so be sure to give it a shot and tell us what you think. Remember to keep an eye on the tall grass...

I love S2Games. I wish I felt the same way about MOBAs, simply so I could keep supporting S2Games; Unfortunately, MOBA is easily among my least favourite genres.
I would love to see a Savage 3, though. Savage and Savage 2 were giddy fun, and I never encountered serious hostility in them.

It's pretty much just as casual as lol, they both pale in comparison to dota2.

Yes I totally agree. Dota2 is too hard core. I played it like 5 times and I still did not understand what to do and could not enjoy any of games. I started enjoy strife from my second game.

if u don't have the time to invest in dota2 (cuz u need to invest time to get somewhere in that game)and u like moba's this can be your thing. i tried it out on fedora 20 and it runs like a charm (some screentearing aside).
the art style is very nice and the game play is real moba but more on the casual side (a bit like awesomenauts)
i think im gonna play alot of this game :)

I could not get into League of Legends. Tried DOTA2 1 year later and now have nearly 800 hours clocked in. With 1 MOBA taking up so much time, I highly doubt I will try another.
