It took longer than we ever hoped, but Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is finally in opt-in beta for Linux. It may have taken over a year and a half, but they really are about to deliver on their promise. Better late than never right?
The password is "marchofpenguins", so you need to use that on the beta section of the game properties on Steam.

I can't find a way to download the beta version. This is what I did:
view -> settings -> Account -> Beta Participation -> Change... -> Steam Beta Update.

You said that unless there is a non Steam version, you'll pass that one and I answered that as far as I know, Beamdog will release a no DRM version through their site.

They do seem to have a non-Steam version, so I think you're right

After Linux is out of beta, they should add a new download page alongside the Mac and Windows ones
