Great news to wake up to this morning folks! On the official Counter Strike blog the developers noted work about the Linux client for the newest iteration of the Counter Strike franchise.

I have been excited to play this for a long time as the Arms Race mode in Counter Strike Global Offensive is seriously fun and gets really heated when people hit the final weapon.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 12 years ago.
CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.
The interesting thing about Counter Strike Global Offensive is it that it has been serving up time-limited DLC. These DLC packs contain community maps that get added into the official matchmaking for a limited time. It gives money back to the modders who create them for each purchase, and that's awesome.

Alien swarm looks like a game than valve don't care about, so its difficult to see a port of it.

Related to the CSGO update, if you go to the forums a lot of people are having trouble with the update, I guess than those "systems" updated for the linux version are causing trouble. of course, that will be fixed soon.

True! I actually didn't know that was a Valve game.... but considering it doesn't have even an OS X version yet, I wonder if Valve itself didn't "forget" about the game :(
And saying that L4D doesn't matter 'cause of L4D2 is like saying that HL doesn't matter 'cause of HL Source....
Each game has its own unique identity and I want to play them all ;)

I hope CS:GO surfing has improved to match CS:S. Surfing is the only reason I play CS:S

This is probably the only Valve game I don't own. Ill buy it when a working linux version comes out. I say working because NONE of the source engine games play nice with my surround setup. Ive made bug reports but never really got a response from them. I have hopes that source2 will handle my setup correctly.. would be cool if CS:GO linux was source2 ;)
