Excubitor is a tower defence game with a difference. It's not all about placing towers and waiting for the enemy to walk in a line towards you. It's also an action game you play from an overhead perspective, and it has boss battles. It's being created by the six-strong Tesseract Interactive.

I've played around with their current alpha build and it's a solid Unity game that I quite enjoyed testing out. The different gameplay aspect and good visuals are a treat for the mind. You can grab your own copy to see what you think of it from IndieDB right now too.

They don't have a full release date yet in mind, but getting onto Steam should give them a big boost.

Features
- Exploring Unique Worlds - each one offering a unique feel and different gameplay elements

- Big Selection of Weapons - unlock weapons as you progress through the game

- Turret Defense - 8 different defensive turrets that offer various strategic possibilities

- Upgrade Your Spacecraft - upgrade your spacecraft’s subsystems for combat advantage and gain unique abilities

- Vast Array of Enemy Units - with the difficulty increasing as the game progresses

- Planning Your Resources - unlock new strategic possibilities based on your play style using the resources you earn in-game

- Interacting with the Environment - take advantage of your surroundings to outmanoeuvre the enemy forces.

Check out Excubitor on Steam Greenlight now, and give them a vote please. It would be a crime not to see it on Steam. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.
