Even though we still haven't gotten the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition the developer has noted on twitter that Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition is already in testing for Linux, and it's promising.

We hope Trent and his team do good on their word and do give us both games, but getting Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition is still fantastic for those like me who never actually got around to playing the original.
It's also a bit odd the only place Linux is mentioned on the official website is on their Steam store "coming soon" label.

I bought BG:EE back in 2013 on the promise of Linux port "soon" and I'm still waiting. Didn't do the same mistake with BG2:EE, but I'll buy it as soon as the penguin icon pops up, same for IWD:EE and any other D&D remakes they're planning.I think that strangely the meaning of the word "soon" in the context of Linux game development is to be understand as "maybe one day that will happen", I'm not sure of why but that seems to be the way it is.
Also, that's great news. Testing shouldn't take more than a month, right ?
