Rising Angels: Reborn is now available for free on Linux and promises to be an interesting sci-fi adventure.
I've play tested a bit of it since it was free (why not!), and it's surprisingly well made. You take control of Natalie a seemingly smart military officer who has been stuck on a crappy assignment while many of her old classmates have been off fighting in war.
The characters are beautifully crafted anime/manga style, so if that's your thing then you will feel right at home with this one. It isn't just the characters that look good, but the backdrops are also quite beautiful too. Whoever did the art for this game sure knows their stuff.
The story seems okay although it is a little bit on the slow side to build up, but that's my usual complaint about visuals novels and why I don't usually play them. Too much reading and not enough actual interaction with it.

Oh, also, the Steam version is updated.
No idea if it does include the "30% more story" announced, but the version on Steam doesn't load the save game from the non-Steam version; and Ren'Py has been updated.
So far, the website still hosts the old version.

This looks very professional looks-wise, I'll give it a try and see how it is. Love the old-school nearly Star Trek IV-era uniforms, very nostalgic.

Well, played through it and I must say, if everyone in their military is as ludicrously undisciplined as the bunch in that story, it's amazing their little empire-thing hasn't fallen apart long ago. I myself am far from the most disciplined guy, but sheesh, those people make my library department look like a model of heel-clicking obsessive saluters. They squabble more than the kids in a badly run pre-school--while sudden-death deadlines loom. I kept wanting to scream at the screen "Would you idiots focus for five seconds?!"
