Ryan Icculus Gordon has just recently been on a guest on the excellent Linux Action Show to talk about Linux gaming. Ryan Icculus Gordon is the name behind a number of big ports, and you can see here just what he has done. Hint: It's a lot.
It's always worth a watch to get some thoughts from Ryan, and the Linux Action Show is probably the best and the only actually watch-able Linux related video cast around nothing else comes close. I was even a guest with these guys at one point!
Make sure you skip to 39 minutes for Icculus action

It's interesting stuff if you haven't been around Linux gaming as long as some of us. Ryan touches on SDL, OpenGL, OpenGL Next and more.
I really only got into it myself when Loki were just going out of business, so it's always nice hearing just that little bit more about our history on the platform.
There is also a new port to come from Ryan in a week or so. Be sure to keep an eye out for it.

Such a tease with the open sourcing of a new project, especially since it mentions steamworks support on his trello board, meaning that it must be a relatively new title :)

Having watched the video, I have to say that Ryan is a genuinely nice guy. (The other two should really have just let him talk for 30 minutes as most things he says are fascinating.) He knows shit, he's seen shit and is still hilariously self-deprecating. And is happy to share what he can. He's like Jesse Eisenberg crossed with Santa.
I have no idea why anyone would want to pull a gun on him.

I watched this when it floated through my twitter feed. Knew who the guy was, no clue what he looked like, or his personality. I agree with neffo, they should have just let him talk. He seems like the kind of person I could hang out with, nice guy for sure. Ive followed him on twitter now.

I used to send mails to Ryan C. Gordon as a simple user when I was using Mac OS X on my old G4 to ask him about upcoming games and/or updates. He ALWAYS replied in the most friendly way.
This guy is great, no matter what some could have said. Some companies are responsible for their poor Linux support. For example Coffee Stain set the priority on Goat Simulator instead of Sanctum 2, thus explaining the poor progress on the port at the time. But hey, it was advertised as a beta after all. Some others like TripWire simply don't care.
