Shadowrun Online was confirmed to be heading to Linux, but the question has always remained when? They use Unity much like a lot of developers now, but noted Unity's Linux support still needed some work for them to be comfortable releasing a Linux version. Luckily now it looks be "soon".

The game is in Early Access right now, so it will be full of bugs and incomplete features. With all the ruckus about Early Access games recently it may be worth holding off when it does come out for Linux for impressions from us and other sites on the Linux version. At £24.99 it's not a cheap deal to be let down by either.

As of today Linux information has been added to the SteamDB:
QuoteChanged App Config
launch/2/config/oslist: linux
launch/2/description: Launch
launch/2/executable: Shadowrun.x86_64
Changed Depots
267753/config/oslist: linux
267753/name: Shadowrun Online - Linux

Pretty good supporting evidence to suggest a release will be soon, but it may just be that they are doing some initial internal Steam testing with Linux.

I love Shadowrun, do not love MMORPG's. But for Shadowrun, I might learn to love MMORPG.

Quoting: GuestI have a idea which is for Valve to take a 50% cut from each game sale for game devs who choose not to support Linux. That should motivate game devs that don't care and only understand money. Also I agree about waiting for a game to be downloadable and playable on Linux before buying becouse actions speak louder than words and game devs can't be trusted.

I disagree with that on many levels, and it doesn't strike me as something many Linux supporters would call for. However, this topic has nothing to do with the article, friend :)

OT: When I saw the headline I was briefly excited because I thought it might be the ShadowRun FPS that I enjoyed a few years back; unfortunately not :P Seems like MMO's are a bit more relevant lately, eh?
