Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues is a great looking RPG currently in pre-alpha that has Linux builds available, and it needs help to get on Steam. The game is being created by a team that includes Richard "Lord British" Garriott the creator of the Ultima series.

When asking about Linux builds to be certain on it the developers kindly told us this:
QuoteHiya Liam,

We are developing the Linux client as we go, and already have a playable Linux version for our pre-alpha testing. As we are developing for all three platforms concurrently, we’ll continue to have updated Linux clients through launch and beyond.

Please let me know if I can ever assist with anything else. Thanks for your interest in Shroud of the Avatar community and I look forward to seeing you in New Britannia!

The highlighted part in the above quote was me, as it's a really great thing to see from what will no doubt be quite a big game. It is using Unity, but we should all know by now it's really not as easy as clicking an export button, so to see them properly work on it is great.

The game has already raised $4,791,093 from their pre-orders (with $1,919,275 from Kickstarter), and it looks like it's not going to slow down either.

You can vote for it on Steam Greenlight here, or visit the official site here.

$5 million is crazy. I'll vote for it on greenlight, but with all the disappointments lately, I'll hold off giving any money until its at beta level.

The game looks very good though, that building and customization stuff is likely to be very popular considering how much of it went on in skyrim and these features look less clumsy.

Voted! I REALLY like that they are actively working on all platforms at the same time! That's how it should be done. I have great respect for 3rd parties who do ports for studios, but who better to do the work than the people who know it's code best.

That was an easy sell.

I loved Ultima Online and ... whichever Ultima single player game I played (I think it was Ultima VI). It's been a long while.

Either way, all I needed to see was "Ultima" and "developing for all platforms concurrently" (a.k.a. not being idiots). I'm in. I'm running the patcher right now and am looking forward to the weekend of the 25th.

They come from the same studio (Origin) as the people from CIG doing Star Citizen at http://robertsspaceindustries.com/
Richard Garriott and Chris Roberts!! =)
Btw, Star Citizen has over $50mil in crowd-funding if you didn't know. They also had cross promotions (backers of Shroud of the Avatar from Star Citizen got a cool crossbow in Star Citizen and you got something in Shroud of the Avatar that was Star Citizen fiction-based).

One thing I must agree I really like about them is they're doing all 3 platforms concurrently! Something CIG hasn't been doing or rather, can't really do until Crytek give them a Linux building Engine version! =/
