SPACECOM is a very interesting minimalistic strategy game from Flow Combine I've had a chance to play a bit of, and I like it. It is published by 11 bit games new publishing arm 11 bit launchpad.

The game is about commanding fleets of spaceships to move from system to system taking out the enemy fleets and planets. It has a minimal style and look, but that doesn't mean it's an easy game.

The game eases you into it and quickly ramps up the difficulty as you face stronger opponents, but they key to SPACECOM really is the multiplayer. It offers online multiplayer of which I have yet to find a game, and offline Skirmish modes to face off against ruthless AI fleet commanders.

I did find it highly amusing that such a non-demanding game has a "plays best on alienware" logo when loading up, and it makes me chuckle every time. It really doesn't and needs little resources, but I imagine that was there to help fund it.

Even though it's a strategy game that can quickly ramp up the pace with plenty of AI fleets moving around I do find the game somewhat relaxing, and I can't wait to see what you make of it.

I can easily recommend checking it out if you're a fan of strategy games.

Features
- Heavy focus on multiplayer - dominate up to 6 players per map
- No coincidence, no luck. What matters is good planning and successful execution
- Sound designed specifically to trigger strategic thinking
- Minimalistic visual design inspired by military technology
- Created to exalt smart thinking over fast clicking

I wish this were a bit cheaper, no big pay bonus for me this month so I don't have as much to spend on games. I don't think this would really be a game for me, but I would be willing to buy it simply to sway the linux #'s since I keep preaching the reason linux #'s are off is because of non day 1 linux games. I've added it to my wishlist though, so if it goes cheaper or when I have some more cash ill probably throw it down.

EDIT* of course I will buy it from linux.gamesrepublic.com when I do ;)

I've quit smoking , so I should have a few more bucks to spend on games, once I fix my desktop...
