The people at King Art Games have been true to their word and have released The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 on steam early access for all platforms at once for their backers, which is a nice break from all the "Linux when windows is out and sorted" releases we get these days.

Their post reads:
QuoteYou helped us making BoUT2 a better game by supporting us on Kickstarter or pre-ordered the game on our website. Because of that you have the opportunity to play BoUT2 before everybody else on Steam Early Access.

Our plan is to release one chapter a month.

Chapter 1 – Today!
Chapter 2 – October
Chapter 3 – November
Chapter 4 – December
Chapter 5 / Full game – Early 2015

I think I'll do basic checking that it runs on my system & then wait for the full game to be out.

Of course, I thought the same thing about Broken Age, until Cheeseness persuaded me to go ahead and play the 1st half already...

can't wait for full game and i don't even like point'n'click adventures. I ended up trying 1 out of pure boredom and darn thing was so funny that i couldn't stop until i reached the end.

the fact that p'n'c hater finished game in 1 session says it all ;)

Yes original Unwritten Tales was really memorable, made me really happy to see a sequel project appear on kickstarter

Quoting: GuestThe first one still crashes when I try to enter the options (on Arch Linux).

That's a common problem with their previous games running on Ogre3D, but it can be avoided by disabling the Steam overlay. This one doesn't have that issue though, but it's a Unity game so that explains it.

I've had a go at this new game now and it's nice enough, but it's obvious that it could use a ton of polish. The textures don't look near as smooth as in the previous game and I have several issues. With my Intel Sandybridge Mobile and Mesa drivers I can't even get through the tutorial because graphical elements seem to just keep stacking up without getting cleared between scenes, so at a certain point I can't interact with anything on screen.

With my GeForce GT630M and proprietary Nvidia I don't get that issue and I can play the game. Though every time the scene changes I temporarily see the left and right sides of the previous scene.

Unfortunately disabling the overlay doesn’t help…

Try this fix, it worked for me:

The book of Unwritten Tales is working just fine no problems at all.

To all the people that may have problems with a lot of games crashing etc , the source of all evil is the Magic Lamp effect!!!

Compiz , KDE that effect is a REAL problem!

Yeah I know everyone likes it, but it gives you problems everywhere, especially when switching resolutions etc!!!!

btw You have to restart after you disable it, Just disable it and all your problems will be solved!

Just try it!
