Wasteland 2 Is Selling Very Well, What A Shocker

By -
Making the rounds at the moment is the fact that Wasteland 2 is selling very well. Well that's a shocker isn't it!

Reports from our caster Samsai are that it's very good and I think he has a bit of an addiction to it brewing.

Thanks to our friends at IGN we have learnt that in the first four days of exiting early access Wasteland 2 earnt a tidy $1.5 million! That's amazing considering they also gathered nearly $3 million from their Kickstarter and no doubt made a fair bit during the early access days too.

Wasteland 2 is a sequel to the amazingly popular 1988 RPG Wasteland and the post-apocalyptic predecessor to the Fallout Series. It looks good and you should check out Samsai's extensive post and video on Wasteland 2 right here on GOL, or just see the video below:

I'm not sure if buying Dragonfall or Wasteland II.

I readed that Dragonfall is too much linear, but this doesn't bother me.

Any recommendation?

Thanks

Get Wasteland 2 AND Dragonfall Director's Cut :)

Dragonfall is linear, but there's a lot of variety in how the game plays out depending on your class choices and other choices in-game.

If you can only buy ONE, go with Wasteland 2. I've played both and WL2 is a lot more fun and engaging IMO. Dragonfall is a great game as well, but again, if you can only pick one. I am still playing WL2 with over 40 hours into the game, I think I am only about half way through. I beat Both Shadowrun Returns and Dragonfall in under 15 hours.

A great game made by one of the greatest game designers just for the love of it?
Yup. Shocker is the word.

More seriously, it's great news in and of itself. It means if a game's good enough, if it's decently covered by gaming sites etc., if the devs get to build and maintain trust and if they actually complete the game, it doesn't matter if it's been kickstarted, it doesn't matter if it's been in Early Access... It'll sell on release.

HEY DOUBLEFINE, READING THIS?

Can't believe it's been over 2 years since I Kickstarted this. It was my first, and I'm glad that it came through, even if it was quite a bit later than originally planned. Now I just need to find the time to put into it.

Quoting: laveis it a full game tho? with a real story, voice acted dialogues for important characters, hours of gameplay that concludes in a good ending to the plot that has been built up before?

i ask this because i played fallout for the immersion it had with its interesting characters, fun and random encounters and its very satisfying endings. im very sceptical with crowd funded "semi indie" games if they can deliver me that and not just ride the "sandbox crafting is cool" hypetrain. i would buy wasteland if someone tells me it has the same level of love for design, lore and details, but not if its just "fallout battlesystem in an open world where you can do what you like trololo".

i like really classic game, is this one? :(

IMO, you should check out the kickstarter videos from the developers, check out the developer diaries, and read anything else about the game from the official site and forums. Best of all, check out some youtube videos.

This game was made by the people who made the Original Wasteland And the first two fallout games. You can't get more authentic than that.

It crashes Linux for me. Shame as I really wanna play it.

Any ideas why it's killing Linux?

The game crashes or it's locking up your system? either way, we are going to need more info to give any advice. What are the specs of the system you are playing it on? If it's just crashing the game can you launch it from the command line and then copy/paste the output to pastebin.com and then post the link please. Quite surprised it's crashing, it has been running flawlessly for me and that's amazing because NO unity based game has ever ran flawlessly on my system.

It's working great for me. Just playing through one of the early places, the choices (intentional and unintentional) are great and actually affect the game, as they should, being a cRPG :D
