Dreamfall Chapters is a highly anticipated sequel to The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. The game will finally released on October the 21st.

The new game was funded on Kickstarter, so yes it's yet another crowdfunded game to actually get a proper release. It raised $1.5M on Kickstarter so it has enough funding to create a great game, but time will tell!

It will be the first in the series to appear on Linux too, so it will be interesting to see how Linux gamers receive it.

Really looking forward to this one!

I seem to be the only person in the world who didn't like Dreamfall: The longest Journey so I'm dubious as to whether I'll like this one too. I'll probably get it though, because I'm a chump

No, a lot of people didn't like the sequel; me included. The first one is the one that's generally regarded as a classic.

Also, Liam, it's worth pointing out that it's only the first episode of the game that will release the 21st. Release dates for the rest of the episodes are yet to be announced.

Was it the story or the awkward controls you didn't care for (or both)?

For me was the awkward control and the story didnt hooked me as much as the first one

I do intent to play it entirely at some point... I tried a couple of times, but I never got around to get very deep. Its definitely very high on my to play list because I liked it the first one very much. And they were not kidding when they said the "longest" journey. Very long engaging game.

For me it was neither the story, which I quite enjoyed, nor the controls, which didn't bother me that much, but the lack of classic adventure gameplay, i.e puzzles. There wasn't really much to do in Dreamfall and the things you could to very way to easy.
They promised more pure adventure gameplay for the new game but I somehow doubt the will deliver on that promise.

"Blade Runner X Game of Thrones" .. wait, what?! xD

Graphics could be better but I've always valued the story (and therefore the characters) a lot more.
Haven't played the prequel tho.

Well. It turns out I wasn't the only person who didn't like it.
I didn't like it for the same reason as FrasierCane. The story was fine, in fact I had friends watching the game as I played it and they loved it because it was basically like a film. There just didn't seem to be very many game-play elements. It could have been a film and it would have been more enjoyable because I wouldn't have had to press any buttons.

I really wish I could have gotten through it because I quite liked the story and atmosphere. The awkward combat and stealth elements ruined it for me though and I ended up rage quitting after being attacked by some kind of troll.
