The newest game in the Natural Selection series titled NS2: Combat has a new teaser trailer out and it's looking good!
We are still hoping to get our hands on it to take a peak before the release, but they developer noted it wasn't quite ready last time we spoke to them on it.
The game originally started as a Mod for Natural Selection and then later a mod for Natural Selection 2, that was until Unknown Worlds teamed up with Faultline Games to turn it into a stand-alone title in the series.
It removes the overhead commanders, so it's much more of a standard first person shooter, which is what makes it quite different to Natural Selection 2.
Official About
Combat pits aliens against space marines in a fast paced, action-packed struggle for survival. Part twitch-shooter, part stealth crawler, you can play with your own style and level up to build up to a jetpacking sentry-gun building marine or a lightning-fast invisible alien that tears through enemies in split-seconds. Featuring unique abilities such as 'Devour', where the largest alien eats her enemies, who then have to fight their way out from inside; and the 'Exo Suit', which lets you re-enact your favourite robot/alien-punching scenes from the movies, games typically last 15 minutes, so it’s perfect for a quick game, but there are many different abilities and play style options to keep you coming back.

Loved NS2, but the Linux "port" is crap on my setup. This is one of the few games I really miss that don't run, no matter how hard I try. Well, once it ran, but since the community took over development I can't get it to run anymore.

This is the game mode I always liked to play in the first NS mod.
I was disappointed when I couldn't play it in NS2, since I think they used some windows specific third-party content
So it's exciting that they are making it an entirely separate game now which will support Linux. Can't wait to play combat mode again
