Paranautical Activity FPS Is Now Out Of Beta

By Just Burt -
UPDATE: The game was removed from Steam when the developer made threats on twitter. Remember to be nice folks. See more information here.

Paranautical Activity drew a bit of ire when they cancelled a bunch of features and decided they were calling it quits, but the game is now fully out and looks fun!

QuoteWe’re calling PA done because we’ve put everything into the game that we can think of. We’ve got almost 20 really varied weapons, like 40 enemies, and over 100 items. There’s only so much you can do and still have the different things actually feel different.

About the game
Paranautical Activity combines the classic FPS action of games like Doom and Quake, with the randomness and difficulty of modern roguelikes like Binding of Isaac and Spelunky.

It looks like the game was removed from steam after the developer made a death threat against Gabe Newell(Link), (Link2).

it's now out of steam too.

What in tarnations? That's the quickest way to flush your career down the drain... Being patient would have no doubt been a lot more beneficial, than being a hot head.

WOW! I just read an article about the shenanigans today at kotaku. Wonder how he thought that was going to end?

Aaaaaaand... it's gone.

I've quickly checked my Steam library and the game still appears there. So I guess they only removed it from the store but not from the buyers libraries? I haven't tried to launch it, though.

What an idiot. If he's in any way representative for the indie scene, then I'm done with that part of the industry.

I'm happy I never bought this title.

Lesson that some people will learn from this: similar to full-time patent trolls who produce absolutely nothing useful, online-harassment trolls take a risk in doing anything productive on the side, it ends up as a way to hurt them back :P

I dare say he's not representative of Indie devs, any more than Linux gamers are represented by the jerks who like to harass Liam (they're way too noisy but in the vast minority, right???)

I've only heard of one other Indie company that basically self-destructed by its unbalanced owner stupidly alienating too many people; most devs manage to cope with stress better than this

You are of course right. But I do think we've heard a bit too much about unserious/dubious/irrational behaviour from the indie scene over the last year.
They do come across as a bunch of amateurs. Something they, of course, in many respects are.

Well someone should remove the link to the steam page since it just says "Error" now that the game has been pulled.
