Fans of strategy games will be pleased. Stronghold 3 has been released for Linux and joins the ranks of the many.
This is now the second Linux port to use Virtual Programming's eON porting technology and it works really well with Stronghold 3 Gold.
Before anyone decides to complain about it not being a fully native port, eON has come on immensely since The Witcher 2's first version, and it shows. I've personally tested this port and found it to be acceptable, so I imagine a lot of others will.

Stronghold 3 is the long-awaited third instalment in the award winning castle-building series. Set 10 years after the original, the Wolf it seems, has cheated death and during his painful recovery he’s become even more bitter and twisted. Now he seeks revenge. Raiding villages and towns during the dead of night, the Wolf has created a tide of panic and you and your allies are the only force that stand against him. In this stunning new update to the world’s favourite Castle Sim - will you triumph by day or die by night?
The game itself does suffer from some rather annoying AI and pathfinding problems at times though. I've had soldiers stand around while wolves take them out one by one before without any of my other soldiers bothering to help, and that's annoying as hell. That aside the rest of the game isn't too bad.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Looks like it works pretty well. Of course I'd prefer a native port, but if eOn technology is good enough to get stable games without glitches and sufficient performance (even 90% of Windows perf) this would be good enough for the moment... even though I strongly prefer ports from Aspyr and so on.

I remember trying to play this under Windows, back in the days. It was horrible, buggy and plain unplayable.
As I understand it the series is loved for its original titles, while the newer, kind of 3D, ones are generally hated. I am lucky I already own it so I cannot make the same mistake again. If anything it will be interesting to see if it works better with eON under Linux than it did under pure Windows, lol.
Btw, a simply bad game in the series, riddled with bugs, and ported by VP? Really, I know we love supporting Linux efforts (VP included), but please do consider this before you buy. I would actually rather find some other, less known indie, and support them, even at 4-5€.

I finally bought the game. At that discount rate it was appealing to me.
After some test (tutorials) I must say the performance is not as bad as The Witcher 2 (I'm talking about the latest beta) but it is not good. I'm on mesa git (Radeon HD 7870) and the fps should be higher (even on the free drivers) since the game does not have such beautiful graphics (I would say 0ad has equal or even better graphics and that game runs smooth on my rig). So my guess is that E.On is to be blamed again...
