The Hive is a story-driven real-time strategy game with nice and detailed graphics which was launched on Thursday on Steam Early Access for Windows. And it seems like developers Skydome are now working on a Linux version! At least according to what they said in a tweet and on their Steam forum.

So this game could seriously get a Linux version because it will stay in Early Access for about one year and the developers are already talking about Mac and Linux versions, which means they do not focus on releasing for Windows first. Plus the game uses Unity3D so hopefully a port won't cause much problems.

Here's the Twitter conversation:
QuoteTropini:
@SkydomeHive Hi, what about a Linux version? Are there any plans for a Linux version ? #Linux #gamingonLinux #steam

Skydome:
@tropini We would love to release Linux and Mac versions in the near future! We are currently testing these builds.

That kind of reminds me a little bit of Warcraft 3. Could just be the aesthetics on the base "buildings" though. Neat concept and nice article.
