Transistor Available On Linux Now

By -

Transistor, a game made by the developers of the well-received Bastion, is finally available on Linux.

About the Game:
Transistor is an Action RPG with an isometric camera much like its predecessor Bastion. And, like Bastion, it has plenty of style and atmosphere. Players control a singer, named Red, who finds herself drawn into a conflict involving the real and digital worlds. It is set in the backdrop of a futuristic city which is beautifully rendered in the studio's vibrant art style. The combat is both real time action but also has turn-based strategic aspects. This, coupled with different abilities that can be acquired and upgrades give the game some depth and variety.

The game holds an 83 on Metacritic and I, for one, have been looking forward to playing it after having a blast with Bastion. You can buy it for 50% off through steam here.

History, sci-fi, technology, cooking, writing and playing games are things I enjoy very much. I'm always keen to try different genres of games and discover all the gems out there.

Oh and the name doesn't mean anything but coincidentally could be pronounced as "Buttery" which suits me just fine.

Let's not forget to praise our good friend Ethan Lee for doing a great job with the Linux version.

I really wonder why Transistor and Bastion are not on GOG. They are indie games free of DRM and they are out for all the platforms that GOG supports.

I really liked Bastion - in fact it's probably my top 2 favourite (indie) game (the other being KSP). It got me into indie gaming and gaming on Linux > 50% of the time.
I always thought they had it available on Linux but I was just waiting for a sale, guess I was wrong.

I doubt this will be one of HiB 13's reveals next week, but experience tells me not to buy any games during the first week of a Bundle!

Otherwise, this is an definite purchase. I've heard good things about it.

The game is 50% off already.... buy the game, help the devs which deserve our money and score one more Steam sale for Linux :)

Yeah, it's not like I haven't done it before, it's true. But I've already dropped $30 (£18) on HiB13, so if I buy Transistor for £8, and they then release it for HiB, I'll be a bit annoyed. It would feel like buying it twice.

Definitely a game I want though... so we'll see. I generally have the will of a 5 yr old child at Christmas time, so there's a good chance that I'll buckle like a cheap belt over the weekend and end up buying it anyway!

Oh, lordy, this is a great day! I can finally play the game I bought just before switching to Linux, yay!

just buy it already! when u start this game up it will become clear how much effort and expertise went into this title. its worth every dime, pound, euro ...whatever. just buy it

supergiantgames for the win dudes, this game and Bastion are must haves

Even the music is exceptional, in both games

I played 20 minutes and quit immediately because I have to finish (epic long) Wasteland 2 first, then give my full attention to Transistor. Sounds, visuals, everything in my first impression is amazing!
