Some more news for you sci-fi fans, as Aspyr Media have written out another blog post on their porting efforts, but the most interesting read is what they replied to me on reddit:
Aspyr_BlairThe good news...we are having less issues on Linux than Mac this go round. For example, we dont seem to be having the same memory issues on Linux, which also translates to less issues with the Leader animations.

That is quite nice to see!

The blog post this time around is very Mac orientated, but that's due to the above reason they told me on reddit. It's still absolutely fantastic to see porters being so open like this.

I hope they include more information on the Linux port in their next blog post, but that comment on reddit will do for me!

Until the next time... Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I'll be honest, outside of the really small companies it's rare for me to see these sort of really frequent status updates. I wish we could get this sort of thing more often.

I find it interesting that Windows players of CIV:Beyond Earth (the might be playing a beta) have, on the Pandora:First Contact Steam forums, carped mightily about C:BE and praised P:FC, thus:

Hammershaft has Pandora: First Contact Oct 29 @ 7:40am
Pandora is definitely better than BE in my opinion, and was better even on launch as a fair comparison. Pandora is worth picking up just to enjoy the things that it does SO much better than Civ... like the economy, combat, and military AI.

I have Pandora, and it's definitely treading the same ground as C:BE, but it's its own game, and quite well worth playing. Is it better than C:BE? Perhaps; it's definitely worth playing, but C:BE may well kick its butt when it is finally released.

And I certainly agree that Aspyr are Good Guys, and, since the overwhelming approval that they got for CIV V, are more than interested in porting native versions to we Linux users. See what they have already done, and it appears that we can expect more goodies from them.
