Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition has arrived for Linux, and it was a day-1 release which we are very happy about. Evil stirs beneath the Spine of the World. In the northernmost reaches of the Forgotten Realms lies the region of icy tundra known as Icewind Dale. Journey deep into the Spine of the World mountains, a harsh and unforgiving territory settled by only the hardiest folk.

You may have seen Samsai play a bit on Friday's live-stream (the video's should be up shortly), but if you didn't he will be doing a more in-depth post about it once he has gotten to grips with it some more.

Hopefully now this is out Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition won't be too far behind! Although I am more looking forward to Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition as I played a little of it when I was younger.

Have many of you picked it up? What do you think to the new Enhanced Edition with full Linux support? Works very well for me!

Available on Steam & GOG.

Evil stirs beneath the Spine of the World.

In the northernmost reaches of the Forgotten Realms lies the region of icy tundra known as Icewind Dale. Journey deep into the Spine of the World mountains, a harsh and unforgiving territory settled by only the hardiest folk. Encounter fearsome beasts that have learned the cunning and ferocity needed to survive among the snow-shrouded peaks. Confront an evil that schemes beneath the carven glaciers and mountainsides to wreak destruction upon the face of Faerûn. This is the world of Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition. Nice to see you Liam. And I hope the other bad guys will stop harassing you.

But for the game, I'm going to wait for Steam discounts before buying it, since 20€ for a game out for more than 10 years is too much for me.

Thanks Liam, I was worried that no one had covered this yet.
I believe BG:EE is actually fully playable on Linux, it's just in beta.
I also think Beamdog has had a bit of a rough time on release with BG:EE which is why it hasn't been released on Linux yet, they concerned about quality control...which is GOOD. I think their future releases, including Icewind Dale are going to be stable and best of all, native!

I bought it from gog because it was cheaper than Steam. Depending how well it works will be decisive for me on how much money I would like to spend on the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition.

Yes! My Favourite D&D Game! The Baldur's Gate port is good, but a few graphical bugs, so hopefully they worked these out of IWD:EE :D

Thanks for the news! Very good to see that there is a choice either to buy the game on GOG or on STEAM.

WELCOME BACK, Liam!

I'm certainly hoping that the sound works now; the other Aurora games I purchased from GOG.com (BG 1+2,P:T) had no sound on the Linux versions when I tried them.

This is from Steam, of course...
