I have been really looking forward to playing Legend of Grimrock 2 soon. Unfortunately, the game is not available for Linux yet, and as it seems it's not certain whether we will see it on Linux at all. I have emailed the developers asking about Linux availability, and this is the response I got:
Juho Salila (Almost Human Games)
Hey Kamil,
Unfortunately we can't promise a linux port at this moment.
It's up to you to deduce how likely we are to see a Linux version in the future, but it certainly won't be soon.
Maybe, if there's a strong support under this article, I can send a link back to them and it might convince them a bit more that the demand is here. Or maybe you have better ideas. Anyway, this is really bad news for dungeon crawling fans. :(
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
I have played and bought the first one when it was released on Linux. It reminds me of "The Eye of the Beholder" series of old. Great game!
Valve is strangely silent lately about the development and futur of SteamOS... Anybody has hints about what's to come?
Valve is sure taking their Time. ;-)
Since the beggining of the project, when they release an update to Alchemist, they immediately start a new round on Alchemist-beta. Right now, it is stopped to Update 145 on Alchemist.
What does that mean? SteamOS is almost complete? What about the online video service that Valve promised (Netflix and the likes)?
And now developers that drops Linux support... It makes me wonder...
Nevertheless, I won't make the same mistake again.
Unfortunately I can promise you just lost a fan.
Well, at least for classic adventure lovers (like me), there is maybe the best news in this month. Ron Gilbert (creator of Maniac Mansion and co-creator of Monkey Island) has just announced a campaign on Kickstarter. Thimbleweed Park will be available on Linux! And I have absolutely no doubt that this will get funded! ^_^
