Platformer Magnetic By Nature Now Available For Linux

By -
The fast-paced platformer has previously been released on the OUYA but made its cross-platform début on the PC today. It incorporates magnetism as a gameplay mechanic in an interesting way that makes it stand out.

Like in Teslagrad, magnetism plays a central part in Magnetic by Nature, both in solving puzzles and in overcoming platforming challenges. This game however, seem to build more on the concept of building momentum by flinging your protagonist around magnets or bouncing off magnetic surfaces to proceed. That might sound familiar to anyone familiar with Knytt Underground and the ball Bob. Either way, it's a game that is certain to offer up a good challenge and put your reflexes to the test.

This version is a complete rebuild of Team Tripleslash' previous game Magnetic by Nature: Awakening, which was released on the Xbox 360 two years ago. Before launching their campaign on Kickstarter last year the team had scrapped art, music and level design and started building a more ambitious reimagining of their concept in Unity. The campaign was a success and they've even managed to get a handful of smaller awards on the way, before officially releasing their game today.

Official About

Magnetic By Nature explores platforming without platforms. Experience a fast-paced, single-player adventure mixing fluid motion, split-second decision making, stylized machine-age visuals, and a dynamic soundscape. As the last remaining robot, journey through the forgotten ruins to reactivate your friends. Successfully funded on Kickstarter and winner of both the Best Developed Game and Audience Choice awards at the 2013 Utah Game Wars competition, MBN is the debut title from Team Tripleslash.

The game is available in both Standard and Ultimate (includes future DLC) editions through Humble Widget and on Steam. It's not clear from the widget or the developer's site, but they have confirmed that the Humble versions include Steam keys. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Teslagrad was fun, I really enjoyed that game although I admit it did piss me off a bit when I died too much :D

Hopefully this will hit GOG.com soon enough.
