Feral Interactive are being sneaky, as they have given a little hint towards their next game, and it's quite obvious it's for Linux.

It's time to get excited folks. Feral Interactive ported XCOM: Enemy Unknown to Linux not too long ago, so we are all eager to see what they have up next. Luckily, we may not have to wait for long at all.

Considering the excellent job they did with XCOM they have already proven themselves to me.

The clue is this picture:

Along with "(Clue: genus and species)".

Anyone want to try figuring out what game they are talking about? Looks like a pretty big nod to us for the fact of it being a penguin.

Source: tumblr article and their twitter.

For those that somehow missed it, we interviewed Feral Interactive back in June, so be sure to give that a read. In that interview Edwin did say this about future Linux ports:

QuoteThat's the plan! Although I can't give you any clues about what's next in line, I can say that the coming year should be a good one for Linux gamers!

Oh Feral, you sneaky developers! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

The second clue from twitter was:

"You thought we were done with clues for today? NOPE! A new signal has appeared on our Radar. Bleepity bleep bleep - http://www.feralinteractive.com/en/upcoming";

A 'new' signal, and as I noted, the only new game is the one with the "owner of a lonely heart" hint.

In a mac gamers forum they are certain that "Pathetic earthlings" was Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising because the image that was shown alongside is a screenshot from that game. I don't see how the clue connects, and besides OPF: DR is a lousy unofficial cash-in on the name by the publishers, I'm a huge Bohemia Interactive fan (original OPF) and would kill to see their true sequels (ARMA 1,2,3) available on linux.

Sadly, it would be one more half-ported game by Feral.

I have the hope that the game will be Grid2, but Batman games also would be good

Yeah, don't know what you mean. Xcom was a very good port.

Huh?

Astro is Upset that X-com only runs in 64 bit as he only uses 32 bit distro. (dont ask me why he uses a 32 bit in os in 2014 but he does)

I wish I could stick to 64 bit only but I cant, so I added the 32 bit libraries.
Daverball Nov 22, 2014
Astro is still butthurt that he failed to read the minimum specs for X-COM and Feral won't provide a 32-bit build for a game that recommends you to have 4GB of RAM even on Windows, and 2GB as a bare minimum. Any application that requires more than 1GB of RAM has no place whatsoever on a 32-bit system.

Why would you throw out a ton of computing power and sacrifice system stability for PAE, when you could just upgrade your OS to 64-bit, your hardware is 64-bit after all, anything other than that is just blaming other people for your own laziness. I could understand if you were reluctant about switching back in 2005, in 2014 however there is no excuse to not switch beyond having 32-bit hardware.
dubigrasu Nov 22, 2014
OK then, half port it is. I just wish we had more.

Have you taken a look at the feral radar signal?
"One step beyond" with a baseball BAT... Signal... Bat... Bat signal.
I don't know... Just a guess...

Just a question... What proves that it's the new signal? It's probably something they have been working on for some time now... Am I wrong?
