In TinyKeep players will embrace the role of a hopeless prisoner held deep in a forgotten dungeon who one day wakes up to find themselves mysteriously released.
The Linux version landed yesterday, and we have been able to give it a crack to see what it's like.
Some thoughts
It's a procedurally generated dungeon crawler with some really smooth looking graphics and fast game-play. If you like real-time dungeon crawlers then you will probably love this. I managed to complete the first level with only finding a shield right at the end, so I had to lure the goblin like creatures into rooms with traps, and have them blindly step on them like the ugly morons they are.
Luckily the archers are a bit smarter, as they actually try to keep you at a distance to shoot. I was hoping they wouldn't just stand there, so at least they didn't disappoint me, although their futile arrows met my shield, and my sword met their face. Great success!
If i'm going to be honest the game felt a little shallow to begin with, but the game does steadily open up with more to do. I managed to find some friends on the second level, and when I freed them they joined me in my escape, and even proceeded to punch a couple goblins right in the face for me; that was pretty handy. Although it's not a good idea to randomly swing your sword around, as I found out you have a tendency to kill your friends, woops.
The second level actually had a boss at the end of it, although he was seriously easy with my mix of bunny-hopping, button mashing, and getting him stuck in the corner facing a wall. Another great success!
The third level gets a lot more intense, and I can see the game steadily getting more intense as it goes on. I decided against my better judgement to activate this dubious looking skull that was chained down, and...it did not end well. An army of skeletons invaded the level, and with them came a massive boss with took a few swipes at me and annihilated me. Not such a great success.

It looks interesting. I would have preferred an inventory and item collection as part of the game. Put it on my wishlist for now.

What do you mean Linux version? Steam says it's Windows only.

TinyKeep MacOSX and Linux ports
Now that v1.2 is out in the wild, I will be working on MacOSX and Linux ports for Steam. As I'm using Unity, this should be fairly straightforward, and the only obstacle I can see right now is to make sure controller support is working properly for these platforms.
If anyone wants to test TinyKeep out on these platforms, let me know. You will need to have the game already in your library to be eligible.
