Trine Enchanted Edition Is Coming Along For Linux

Trine for Linux has been missing on GOG and Steam since the Linux release, but fear not, as the Linux version is still coming for the revamped Trine Enchanted Edition.

Speaking on the official Steam forum they noted this:
QuoteNot really new, but I can tell that the Linux version is already in pretty good shape, though not really ready to be published yet. At least so far there haven't been really bad setbacks.

Sadly, these sort of delays in Linux versions will continue to happen, until we gain a higher market share and developers think about Linux as a more equal platform. At least Frozenbyte keep us updated, I'm looking at you 4A Games/Deep Silver, where's Metro Redux? Anyway, back to the topic at hand.

What's new in the EE?
Trine Enchanted Edition is a remake of the original Trine with dazzling new visual effects and numerous gameplay improvements!

- Online and local co-op with up to three players
- Mid-level saving: Save anywhere to play as long or short sessions as you like
- Stunning new graphics based on the Trine 2 engine

Both Trine Enchanted Edition as well as the original Trine are included in the Enchanted Edition. The different versions are selectable from the game launcher. All Trine purchases have been automatically updated to Trine Enchanted Edition. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I'm really looking forward to the Enchanted Edition too. I hope it has cross-platform co-op.

Cross plarform co-op will be there as it is using the trine2 engine which supported this (played coop with a friend a little bit when I bought trine2)

Tell em Liam! Back on topic I have been looking forward to this as well. I tried Trine2 and found I really liked it, but put it down when I found out the first was coming as well. Might as well play them in order ;)

It should be fairly easy to resist considering how A) there is no Linux client and so you cannot play the game and B) there will be more sales where the game will likely be even cheaper and C) you will not count as a Linux sale, defaulting instead to a Windows sale, making our measly market share even smaller than it already is.

I'm no fan of most platform games, but the Trine games are certainly an exception.

Will it be compiled with the latest PhysX SDK? It'd be cool to be the first game on Linux to offload it's physics tasks to the GPU instead of the CPU (at least for Nvidia systems).

I like Trine's games but I hope Trine runs at +60fps and not at 30fps as Trine 2.

Yep, both games are now on my "wish-list"... Once the "Enchanted Edition" supports Linux-based operating systems, I'll buy both.

This game - which I've never heard of - looks incredible, by the way...
