Always Sometimes Monsters is a highly rated, award winning, and great looking 2D game that looks like it really will be coming to Linux.

On the Steam forum post asking about Linux support, a developer posted this yesterday:
QuoteStay tuned. Something's coming very soon.

This wasn't the only sign, as the SteamDB page has also been updated for it:

About the game
Out of money and out of luck you find yourself heart broken and on the verge of collapse. Your landlord's taken the key back, you can't finish your manuscript, and your beloved is marrying someone else. With no choice but to handle whatever life throws at you, you set out on the open road on a mission to win back the love of your life. The story from there is up to you. Can your life be salvaged, or are we always sometimes monsters?

A story-driven experience focusing on relationships and emotional bonds rather than traditional RPG combat and adventuring. Indecision is your enemy and empathy is your weapon in a quest to earn one last chance to win back the love of your life. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Great! Now, GTA 5. Do you ever think they will port that?

I will definitely get this one once it's ported.

Should be trivial with mkxp if it's made with RPG Maker. :P

So, mkxp works on RPG Maker XP no problem, but we built ASM in VX Ace, which mkxp doesn't support. Thankfully though, with the help of some talented people we've been able to overcome this hurdle and should have something for all you penguins very very soon.
Awesome, this is great news I bought this game before I switched to Linux, I had been on the fence it was after hearing the deadline for the Windows 7 support ends on 13th of January of next year. I had gotten about halfway through Always Sometimes Monsters before I officially switched to Linux. Now I can play this game through a few times in order to get some different endings.

Always nice to hear from the developer. :) Glad to hear you've been able to work around it. As far as I understood from that Steam thread it is the developer of mkxp who has been helping you out? Hopefully that means the effort made in porting Always Sometimes Monsters might also benefit other games built in VX Ace.

I'm very pleased with this news. I really enjoyed the demo I played on Windows. For some reason I thought Humble Store already offered a Linux version but a quick check showed I was wrong.

Hello, creator of mkxp here, just wanted to clarify some points:

1) mkxp does support RPG Maker VX Ace games since around October 2014.

2) I made "Always Sometimes Monsters" run on mkxp which took about 30 minutes and contacted the devs per email asking if I could release a fan port so others on Linux could play it. They asked me to send them my port, after which I never heard from them again (this was in November).

3) This upcoming ASM Linux port is not in any way based on mkxp.
