Aspyr Media have done it again! Civilization: Beyond Earth is now officially available for Linux, and we have keys to throw through the screen.

It's fantastic that it was ported as quickly as this, and the communication in public from Aspyr Media has been fantastic. Other bigger developers could learn a thing or two from Aspyr.

About the game
Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth is a new science-fiction-themed entry into the award-winning Civilization series. Set in the future, global events have destabilized the world leading to a collapse of modern society, a new world order and an uncertain future for humanity. As the human race struggles to recover, the re-developed nations focus their resources on deep space travel to chart a new beginning for mankind.

As part of an expedition sent to find a home beyond Earth, you will write the next chapter for humanity as you lead your people into a new frontier and create a new civilization in space. Explore and colonize an alien planet, research new technologies, amass mighty armies, build incredible Wonders and shape the face of your new world. As you embark on your journey you must make critical decisions. From your choice of sponsor and the make-up of your colony, to the ultimate path you choose for your civilization, every decision opens up new possibilities.

Really looking forward to getting my hands on this game. It's great that Aspyr are one of the main drivers of AAA games coming to Linux. How can one not love them? Gotta love GOL too, for providing up to date coverage on the Linux gaming scene!

I love GamingOnLinux because of quality articles and news. I'm a daily viewer for more than a year.

And Aspyr, how can a linux gamer do not love them? They did the best ports ever of AAA games. Very communicative with the community.

I'm a fan of both! =)

I love Aspyr because they are awesome! ^_^

I love their ports and the developer blog. I'm playing their port of Civilization V and after many hours of gaming, not a single crash or issue. Impressive!

Who's my little boy? You are Aspyr, you are! Yes, what a good boy! I mean.. I totally like GOL! *cough cough*

Honestly, I love Aspyr because they ported Civilization 5. Am, f*king, azing. I played 50 hours of that game on Linux now, (got around 56 on Windows) and its working great :D And if.. if I might reveal a secret.. I've got a crush on Aspyr Media. Umm, its kind of awkward but its true.. Hope you see this Aspyr <3

As for GOL, I found it with a DuckDuckGo search for "Linux Gaming". I used to use PC Gamer, but then Far Cry 4 came out. Aaand there went my ability to follow up on my usual games. I really enjoy the work you are doing Liam, and I sent the picture of those morons from whatever the other "rival site/channel" was called, to most of my friends. It was pure harrasment.

How can you not love Aspyr and GOL?

I do not love Aspyr only for the ported games. I like them beacuse all the process is open and show us, linux users, that they do care about us. I can read it in every blog post

And GOL, I found this site only a couple a months ago, but know I reload it every 15 minutes. And one fact i love about it is that post are well written and I can say that you try the games you are talking about...

but GOL is not only about the editors, is about the people that comment, and here people is mostly humans. Try to go to phoronix or slashdot, is a jungle out there :D

If you read till this, I thinks this for real and not for the keys. Go guys, and thanks for creating my OCD with your page..

I love GamingOnLinux because give me the chance to stay update with the lastest relases on our favorite OS.

And I love Aspyr too because they are really working hard to port some AAA title on Linux to prove that it can be a competitive OS like Windows and OSX.

For me, the most important attribute of Linux is the pleasant circumstance that people do stuff because they like it and not because of damn money. That is connected with the great idea of Open Source software in general. Let beings do what they want and they do it with passion! I see nothing but advantages. "Gaming On Linux" is a pretty good memory of that perfect and natural concept.
pb 18 Dec 2014
I love Linux and whomever else loves Linux gets my love as well. It's as simple as that.

Love for Aspyr. Just one word: Performance bringing best AAA games.
Ajdrew70 18 Dec 2014
GOL, where would I be with out good games? I would have the most pathetic wishlist of Linux games ever!
Aspyr, I love how that you have made games that were never made to be on Linux! where would gaming be without you?
tuxisagamer 18 Dec 2014
I love GOL cuz you guys are freaking awesome! Best source for Linux gaming news on all the interwebs.

And I love Aspyr for promoting my favorite platform and trying to put it on equal footing with the 2 other better known x86 platforms.
