Aspyr Media have done it again! Civilization: Beyond Earth is now officially available for Linux, and we have keys to throw through the screen.

It's fantastic that it was ported as quickly as this, and the communication in public from Aspyr Media has been fantastic. Other bigger developers could learn a thing or two from Aspyr.

About the game
Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth is a new science-fiction-themed entry into the award-winning Civilization series. Set in the future, global events have destabilized the world leading to a collapse of modern society, a new world order and an uncertain future for humanity. As the human race struggles to recover, the re-developed nations focus their resources on deep space travel to chart a new beginning for mankind.

As part of an expedition sent to find a home beyond Earth, you will write the next chapter for humanity as you lead your people into a new frontier and create a new civilization in space. Explore and colonize an alien planet, research new technologies, amass mighty armies, build incredible Wonders and shape the face of your new world. As you embark on your journey you must make critical decisions. From your choice of sponsor and the make-up of your colony, to the ultimate path you choose for your civilization, every decision opens up new possibilities.

I love GamingOnLinux and Aspyr so much (but ESPECIALLY GamingOnLinux) because they're going to give me a Civilization Beyond Earth key. That's so cool, you guys rock. ❤❤❤

(It's implied that if I don't get a key I will love you so, so much less. It would be a shame.)

I have to say, my only true reason for deleting my Windows partition entirely was because of this website, GamingOnLinux.com and the resources to be found here. It has allowed myself to get rid of the Redmond malware once and for all. And for Aspyr for porting my most played game on Steam through my 9 years on Steam, Civilization V (1500 hours under Windows). My only reason for not buying Civilization: Beyond Earth is due to the exorbitant prices I have been dishing out for ALL of the great titles getting ported to Linux in the last several months and wanted to wait until it was officially released on Linux to get it through Steam and make my purchase count. Really, I could use a key now after buying Linux supported games for myself, niece and brother, and X-mas presents for my loved ones (like my dog, replenishing her Kong ball supply isn't cheap and I don't have a 3D printer yet). Constantly seeing the GamingOnLinux @gamingonlinux posts with new Linux releases in my Twitter feed is like Christmas several times a week. Unfortunately, my bank account feels it too. Borderlands 2, X-Com and Civ, the best reasons for me to get into the Linux era full time. Who needs Windows? Not me, myself, or I. Thanks!

Am I the only one around here who is not satisfied with this Xmas sale event?
Last year at Christmas time the discounts were higher there were both choices of the community and discounts daily. This year there are 160 games discounted at 10-50%, it's bad.

Well, that's mainly because there are more recent games on promo that the same bunch of oldies that came back at each sale during the last three or four years...

Whatever, don't forget that the higher discount will come when the games are put on daily deal / community choice / flash sale. If you spot a game that's not in these, there's a chance that it'll get a better discount (if not, it will be at the current one until the end of the sale anyway).

And there are still community votes along the daily deals. The main change is that there is now one vote per day instead of three, so the list of games that scroll through the three options will be a bit less showcased, but all games should be on a special sale at least twice.

I love GaminOnLinux because it's my point of reference to know about games and discern rumors from the truth.

I love Aspyr for their great ports and communication, it's not easy to understand how our community works and not only hear our feedback but also talk with our portals (like GOL) to bring us news or calm the FUD its great!

(Sorry for my english)
