I've had the chance to test a bit of it, and I find it to be a well executed and interesting game. It does get a little frustrating though as one of the training levels I flat-out wasn't able to do, as I couldn't get the hand of moving my ball to opposite platform. I imagine there's a simple knack to it, but I just can't do it.
In the game you need to use the momentum gained, and the growing/shrinking power to overcome obstacles. For people with a good brain it will be good fun, but for idiots like me it may be a little frustrating.
I was able to complete a few of the later levels, and found it gets more interesting as you have to combine different abilities.
This is a must have for puzzle/platform fans.
About the game
iO is a physics platformer in which you control a ball. By growing or shrinking the ball you can influence its speed and weight. Use these mechanics to gain momentum and make your way through the levels. Toy with the laws of physics, solve the puzzles and reach the exit as quickly as possible. Can you win the gold medal in all levels?
Check out iO on Steam now.

I played through the demo on Steam earlier this week and really liked it. So much so that I bought the full game earlier today, even though I have a huge backlog of games at the moment.
I didn't struggle with the direction changing thing, but it probably helps a lot that I've played NightSky.
I asked the developer about a DRM free version and they said they plan on putting the game on both Desura, GOG and the Humble Store.
EDIT: I think I misunderstood which level you were having problems with. The one where you have to clear a large gap requires you to gain momentum with a normal sized ball and then quickly make the ball smaller just before you reach the edge. This launches the ball across the gap.

Glad to hear that you like the game :). If you still need help with the controls of iO, we've recently added some videos on Youtube that explain the basics.
