It's not secret that Starbound hasn't updated their "stable" branch for a while, but that is going to end early next year with lots to come. The new trailer has me very excited.

This trailer shows what everyone has been playing with in their nightly update branch on Steam:

You can play with all the new stuff right now, but you need to opt into their nightly updates on Steam, and that can break every day and wipe save games whenever. It's not an option for anyone who wants to play properly.

I imagine once this update hits, we will start up a Starbound server again.

You can expect their stable branch to get update arund January next year according to this update post. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I'm so happy to have this game in my library :D

It's still an awesome game. One interesting note tho: I can play the nightly builds just fine on Linux, but a friend of mine could never play any of the nightlies on his windows machine (stable runs) :D

Indeed. It didn't deserve all the shitstorms :(

I can't wait for this update! I have played through the current stable game like 20 times and have collected all of the items currently available. This will totally reinvigorate the game for me.

+1 for Terraria.

I was looking at this game but got put off by the bad steam reviews about missing content and devs not regularly updating it much - lack of regular updates and bad dev communication are big warning signs in my book, especially for EarlyAccess games. This has given me more confidence, but I'll need to see evidence of better and improved gameplay and a sale before I'll consider buying again ...
Also, I haven't even done 80% of the things in Terraria yet, so probably won't even want to spend too much time in this. (Hence only getting it on sale).
