Update: Metro 2033 Redux is now downloading.
Original article:
Both Metro 2033 Redux & Metro Last Light Redux now have Linux icons on Steam, but they aren't currently downloadable. Looks like someone either forgot a switch or two.
Someone actually emailed in to ask us to notify people of this horrific scam taking place. Sarcasm aside, it happens a lot, and it's due to how many switches you need to hit on the Steam control panels or something.
Steam itself is saying it's out now:
Considering they are on sale right now too, it's probably legit, but the developers forgot to make the download completely public. We will update you when we have more folks.
Ps. If it was you who said it was a scam, please take this as a joke, really! We like to make light of annoying situations.
About the games
Both FPS games have been revamped, and this time Metro 2033 is available on Linux for the first time thanks to it using a newer engine.
Looks like you need 64bit too, so yet again it's time to upgrade if you haven't. They also require OpenGL 4.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Typical, things like this always happen when I'm skint. :| Looks like I'll have to wait for the next sale to pick these up, although I have the originals so I can play Last Light anyway.

Quoting: FinCoderI just downloaded 2033 redux. It doesnt launch on open source drivers (ati). Complains about opengl 4 support missing.
You can get around this by adding
'MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=4.0 MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=400 %command%'
to the launch options. On my end, the game will launch after doing this, but I get a black screen the whole time with the game audio and menus working. I'm trying to figure out how to get the visuals working. I have Intel Ivybridge graphics, Mesa 10.3.

Can anybody confirm is it's working well with the ATI proprietary drivers? Also if there are no options to set the resolution, is it at least using the default resolution set in the driver settings?

I cant wait to play it as soon as I get home from work. I also hope it wont crash as often as Metro LL did. Crashing every time between 5 mins and 1 hour wasn't fun to play.

I used to use primusrun with bumblebee until the option to make Nvidia run all the time was released. Either way, you can toggle between Intel and Nvidia cards in the nvidia settings window. You just have to restart Xorg each time you switch. Ive had better luck with it.

Played Metro 2033 Redux for half an hour.
In fact, resolution is included in the general "Graphics Quality" option, which sucks.
The other thing that sucks is that the only anti-aliasing that is available is SSAA, which allows you to play 2K, 3K or 4K on a HD screen. Well, my GeForce GTX660 can't handle that :p So I'm without any anti-aliasing and it's kind of... pixelated sometines.
But on another hand:
- I run this maxed out (appart from SSAA of course :p)
- I run this with PhysiX and that's really awesome
- It never crashed
- It was the best looking thing I ever played on PC
To sum it all up, I'm really, really pleased.
THANK YOU 4A Games.

@omer666 can't you force anti-aliasing through the Nvidia Settings panel?
I've also got a GTX660 and LLredux...haven't tried it yet, but looking forward to it!

The "problem" when you activate SSAA is a game's problem, not of the Linux port. Windows version have the same issue:
