Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but it seems some Linux websites are claiming that Fantasy XIII-2 will come to Linux. Sadly, this is not actually the case.
I don't particularly like posting "x game won't come", but when other sites report on it wildly and we get lots of people asking what's up then it becomes a necessity.
The reports are based around Final Fantasy XIII-2 popping up on SteamDB with this:
Quote250823/config/oslist: linux
250823/depotfromapp: 250820
250823/maxsize: 26528677
250823/name: OpenVR Linux
You may see a small download for it if you own it, but it's due to OpenVR, nothing more.
The same has happened for a few other titles that use "OpenVR" as it seems to trigger the Linux section, and it's the same on Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 for just one example.
Heck, even SteamDB is giving them the status of "Fake? Only OpenVR". Don't believe everything you read folks.

Ah man, who cares. Last good FF was IX, it's just been big-budget rubbish with no substance since then.
The whole "FF7 remake trolling" thing actually reminded me to replay FF7 and I'm just getting annoyed by the pixelated backgrounds and that I can't swap them out for better ones without losing achievements (the only thing Squeenix bothered to add) so keep feeling I would have been better off keeping my money and just pirating it.
For them to support Linux it would have to be a completely different company.

I wouldn't complain if it did come to Linux (the more 'big' games, the better!), but I'll not cry myself to sleep if it doesn't. I'm not a fan of modern Final Fantasy games.

Thank you very much for clearing things up. I was a litte bit disappointed that other linux news site reported rumors only based on that "OpenVR Linux" entry. Doesn't really seem to be an indicator for ported games until now.

I played Final Fatasy 1 (NES) to 4 (SNES) and then lost interest... The series felt like going in any directions and yet none... But it might just be me who didn't understand the concept, at the time...

About FF… The last decent FF was FF1 anyway :D. It’s the only one I enjoyed (it’s extremely repetitive and unimaginative though).
Well, I wouldn't mind playing native versions of FF1 to FF9 or even to FF12 ( I had fun playing all of them ).

The Final Fantasy VII Compilation games were the only ones worth playing, but either way, Square Enix is a backwards-looking company anyway, so it's never going to happen regardless...

As I remember appending 2 to 13 or to 10 just means that game will happen in same universe as the main game happened I think every new number in final fantasy title means it is different universe. So I think it is not the laziest title :)

Each of the "[Final Fantasy](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy)" games are their own story, set in completely different universes/timeframes/etc... Though there are some games which are loosely connected.
The "2" games however, are set in the same universe/timeframe/etc as the other games that share the same title (e.g. "[Final Fantasy X-2](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_X-2)" is the direct sequel to "[Final Fantasy X](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_X)" ), with the only exception being any of the games, films and other media related to "[Final Fantasy VII](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII)" - due to the popularity of this game and the [sheer number of spin-offs/prequels/sequels/films/etc](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compilation_of_Final_Fantasy_VII#Titles), these are all bundled under the group title "[Compilation of Final Fantasy VII](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compilation_of_Final_Fantasy_VII)".

I played FF 7 to 13 and they got progressively worse. they peaked around 10, 12 was good but 13 was too dumbed down. FF is over as far as I'm concerned, although square enix have redeemed themselves slightly with the amazing tomb raider reboot.

As I said, I do not really know anything about these games, so I probably do not have the right to comment, but as a title I still think appending a number to another number seems quite lazy. I can also say that, to the uninitiated, all this talk about X being better than Y, or Y being the greatest game ever while X was the worst thing to ever come out, all comes across as rather amusing.
If the games really are all different from each other, it does make one wonder why they need to share the same kind of branding at all, other than for reasons of marketing convenience. Not to mention the fact that any game series with the word "Final" in its title that still manages to reach the number thirteen does need to be questioned, even if only just a little...
