Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but it seems some Linux websites are claiming that Fantasy XIII-2 will come to Linux. Sadly, this is not actually the case.

I don't particularly like posting "x game won't come", but when other sites report on it wildly and we get lots of people asking what's up then it becomes a necessity.

The reports are based around Final Fantasy XIII-2 popping up on SteamDB with this:
Quote250823/config/oslist: linux
250823/depotfromapp: 250820
250823/maxsize: 26528677
250823/name: OpenVR Linux

You may see a small download for it if you own it, but it's due to OpenVR, nothing more.

The same has happened for a few other titles that use "OpenVR" as it seems to trigger the Linux section, and it's the same on Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 for just one example.

Heck, even SteamDB is giving them the status of "Fake? Only OpenVR". Don't believe everything you read folks.

Now, back to your regular scheduled programming! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

It took forever for it to come to PC, I'm really surprised anyone thought it would ever possibly come to linux. I mean, how many have been released to PC? At least within any sort of reasonable time since the original release. FF7 and the MMOs only?

Most people don't know that every FF game is a completely different story, world, characters, etc...

None of the FF games share anything in common except perhaps the battle systems and the menus are similar sometimes.

That Said, I think its realistic we'll see a lot of AAA titles maybe even perhaps FF15 on SteamOS once Valve lights their Cannon and blasts off the launchpad.

FF6, FF7 and FF8 are the best IMO. FF9 & FF10 were disappointments, FF12 was unplayable because the battle system changeover. Ever since Squaresoft merged with that Hentai company their games have gone to T & A land really fast (FF10+). FF11 and FF14 were online and wanted to be WoW so bad but failed horribly.

FF13 = Final Fantasy The Hallway as maps are highly linear and really boring. ZZZzzz

Will purchase any/all FF games if they do a native Linux release.

FF1, FF4, and FF6 are the only good FF games (2 , 3 and 5 maybe - I didn't play them on account of the North American release and numbering screwjob). After that, Square ruined the name, as far as I'm concerned.

(Hey, we all have opinions. I didn't expect you to like mine.)

Well, I've played demo on PS3 once and didn't like its battle system %) How about FF15? No idea how good or bad it is, though, aside from the fact that it's action or something.

// Played 1-10, T and TA. 6 was best for me.

Just a wierd FYI, I logged into steam today and found FFXIII-2 was installable on my linux box. The install is 9mb and leaves an empty install directory....but seams to me like there could be something more to these rumors :o

Quoting: HamishNot to mention the fact that any game series with the word "Final" in its title that still manages to reach the number thirteen does need to be questioned, even if only just a little...\

The title exists because at the time of Final Fantasy (as in, the original), Squaresoft was almost bankrupt... Final Fantasy was a last-ditch attempt at a successful, which obviously paid off.

Of course, you would think that Squaresoft would have changed the name once they started making money again... But I guess not.

Whilst I doubt the authenticity of this claim, it would be interesting to see if anyone else has experienced this and I'd be happy to be proven wrong...

Like the article states, it doesn't matter.

It's due to OpenVR. Nothing more.

What's OpenVR? The Oculus support?
