Orphan is a dark (think Limbo) styled action platformer that looks fantastic. Good visuals, and a setting revolving around aliens; well count me interested!

It's currently on Steam Greenlight, and it looks like they will do a Kickstarter in future too.

About the game
Orphan draws inspiration from the classic 2D games of gaming's golden era. Orphan focuses on immersive gameplay, visuals and atmosphere and channels classics like Another World, Blackthorne and Oddworld: Abe's Oddysey, with a touch of Journey to Silius. Oh yeah and let's not forget a little Limbo.

You will sneak across the countryside through open fields and dense forests, over dangerous mountains and through lush valleys, ducking behind rocks and trees all while being pursued by an army of machines designed to destroy all life. However the machines have their weaknesses and they carry powerful weapons that may be able to be used against them.

What do you think?

I don't recall there being much in the way of combat in LIMBO?

One of my favorites this year, Monochroma, also opted for a mostly monochromatic aesthetic, and I think there's room for more in the same style as long as it fits with the overall theme of the game.

EDIT: Got ninja'd by Liam. ;)

No, but if you would buy a brand new game just for combat..

Well, no one is saying that. It's an entirely different game, with similar visuals to Limb. It has a different story, different interactions, combat, etc.

Personally I love it.

Arguing like that there shouldn't be that many shooters/(mmo)rpgs out there, because they often differ not much more than Limbo and Orphan.

Looks like nice atmosphere built from those visuals. If it's got influence from the Oddworld gameplay, I'm in. I'd imagine a good mix of puzzle and action then.

Arguments dont always have to work in every instance for it to be valid to me :)
