Hi, hello, I will be taking this post from now on and will do the basic thing that is done every month, give some thoughts on it and the usual disclaimers to not take these numbers as something precise or some real representation of us or something like that.
Linux results for November 2014

As it was said, don't take the numbers as something precise.... these are the numbers Valve shared today and I will be updating the article if I see any change along the month.
My thoughts on it
This may have been the most stable month for us according to the survey.... really, the only change was the Ubuntu people making their change for the new version of the OS. So, well, we are standing with stable numbers again.
Things to note
Just be aware these results will probably not be that accurate as we don't know how they do their percentage results, they could be rounding up, rounding down or truncating the percentages. So a 0.5% could actually be nearly 0.6% as it could be 0.59% but they could do no rounding and simply truncate it.
Also remember it is a survey, so it won't ask every single one of you to do it. It would only be truly accurate if it did it behind the scenes, but that's not what a survey is for this is just to get a general idea.
One more thing to think about: These numbers although not big, very probably come, at least mostly, from people that are already into Linux as their main desktop OS and won't change that.... so from here the only way is up, as Linux may get more and more popular some day.... you never know. Let's keep wishing success to the Steam Machines at least.
Final Note: Look at it this way, Steam has around 100 million active users, 1% of 100 million is about 1,000,000 (1 million) people. What developer wouldn't want to hook into a market that big? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

But closer to topic. I do not think that too may people can even see difference between Linux and Windows. I installed Linux on my mothers computer and she did not see any difference because she was using Firefox and watching videos on VLC player. If I think about it most of my relatives would not see any difference they are just going with what they have and if they have working Internet browser they do not need anything more.
My kids are 6, 8 and 10 and it's Ubuntu all over the place. Never had any problems either. In fact, they've never been able to crash my pcs because of "yes-clicks" on every tools proposed that transforms a windows install into a sluggish under-performing system.
It's all about the capacity of adaptation of certain individuals that don't want their old habits to be shaken too much. They don't want to get out of their comfort zone and prefer to stick with something they know.
This is why so many of them shows sympathy for Linux but will never take the full leap. They will probably try at some occasions but will back off out of habit.
Resistance to change, they call that?

I don't have a windows partition anymore, but when I had, whenever I fired it up and played a Steam-Game there I got that stupid survey.
I played 90% of my time under Linux even back then. At least the survey pops up here now and then, but never as often as it did on Windows. Not sure why, not saying it's a big conspiracy (although it probably is)!
Same here before I converted my Windows laptop to Ubuntu.
I got it yesterday too. First time this year I think, except the few times I've used Steam under Wine.
Be really nice if the Steam Machines really get released and hit some success.
My your logic, theft can't be proven wrong..... So.... I demand:O for all your valuables to be handed over to me.:P
