More information is coming out of Aspyr thanks to a reddit, and the news is all pretty good. Not only are they looking at releasing a new port soon, but they are looking to GOG too.

On talking about their new port on reddit they said this:
Aspyr_BlairI never gave a date, but only said in the new year.
We are close to the reveal, super close actually and our team is getting super jittery and excited. As promised, it will be a game that NOBODY saw coming. Over 1000 guesses across the net, and nobody has come close.
Darth is right, we did this one for love. We hope you like it, but we are cool if you dont ;)

I don't know what it is, as Aspyr have kept extremely tight lipped about this. It's quite surprising that not a single person has guessed what it is yet.

Among the many questions and comments on another reddit post, one user asked if they considered bringing their games to GOG. Aspyr replied that it's in currently in the talks with GOG:
Aspyr_BlairTo your points on GOG, I am actually in talks with them now and (if successful) it wont be long before you see Aspyr titles up there.

I know a fair few people steer clear of Steam, so if they do manage to get their games on GOG then it's win-win for all Linux gamers.

Just a theory, but could it be Heroes of Might and Magic III? Seems like the kind of thing that would be done "for love" and there's a re-master out soon, but Windows-only despite having had Linux and Mac ports in the past.

Wild stab in the dark, but if not one guess in 1000 has been right, it will probably be something a bit obscure like this.

This makes me very hopeful it's a game I might like. :)

Wow!

Now, that must be Tetris!

Depending on who's games they are of course. After all, all Aspyr does is port them as a sub-contractor - if the games aren't already on sale on GOG.com then it's unlikely Aspyr would be able to sell them.

And as for the HD remaster of HoMM III - aside from it being way off-field, isn't it using UPlay?

As far as I can tell there's o UPlay. It's on Steam and no mention of third party DRM. Could be wrong though.

Not saying it's going to be that, but the statement kind of implies it will be something like that. Some cult classic or something.

A classic? A port of the original pong?

Knights of the Old Republic?
loggfreak Jan 17, 2015
Or doom4, you never know it might be a brand new game?

If I'm going to wager a semi-realistic bet, I'll go for Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, since it's one of the games I really like that I find it somewhat likely that the people at Aspyr might love enough to want to port it.

Well things that might come to my mind of games that "NOBODY saw coming" would be a Microsoft game..

Age of Empires II??
