Well this was a surprised! Dying Light has hints that it may come to Linux thanks to information from the awesome SteamDB.
The visuals in the game are just fantastic, and we really don't have many games in this class on Linux.
The game isn't out yet, and going by Steam it will release for Windows at the end of the month, but it looks like Linux could be included in this release. If so, it will be a huge same-day release.

Dying Light is an action survival game presented in first-person perspective. The game is set in a vast and dangerous open world. During the day, you roam an urban environment devastated by a mysterious epidemic, scavenging for supplies and crafting weapons to help you defeat the hordes of mindless, flesh-hungry enemies the plague has created. At night, the hunter becomes the prey as the infected grow in strength and aggression - but even more lethal are the nocturnal, inhuman predators that leave their hives to feed. You will need to make use of all your skills and any available means to survive till dawn.

Is it me or is this almost identical to Dead Island? Even the weapons are the same, the setting and zombies seem pretty similar too. If I had seen some of the footage but without the game's name, I would have thought it was a preview of of Dead Island 2.
Still, the "intense story" part draws me in a bit. It's been forever since I've played a first person AAA game with a decent story. Then again, the "four player co-op" kind of suggests a bad single player experience and the fact that it's centered around zombies leads me to believe that it might be yet another game made by people who have seen lots of films but never read a book. We'll just have to see I suppose.

Well, it *is* very similar in appearance to Dead Island. However, I don't consider that a negative, since i rather liked the graphical style of Dead Island & DI: Riptide and this game seems to be an upgrade in quality while maintaining a noticeable resemblance.
Dead Island also had a great focus on co-op gaming but I logged 59 hours of single-player gaming with it so I'm not concerned. ;-)

Yeah, surprisingly I enjoyed Dead Island as well. Wasn't expecting to, but for some reason I got pretty hooked on it for a while despite the lack of story or character development. I think the mechanics were quite satisfying (knocking heads off with blunt weapons and stuff), it's nice to sit back and play it with a controller.
It's so insanely buggy though and after all these years they never really fixed so many of the issues present across platforms. Putting aside the graphical glitches, for me the only weapons which appeared in crates were brass knuckles and the only items that spawned were bottles of alcohol, so could only mod weapons with what I could buy from people. So basically stuck with whatever weapons I could find lying around. That apparently happens to a lot of Windows users too, it just seems really lazy that they never fixed that because it's a pretty major issue.

I've noticed that as well and looked around, some digital distributors still sell it to Germans and it's a Steam Key everywhere.
It also sounds like they will not prevent you from activating it in Germany, you just can't buy it on Steam.

It looks a lot like a mix of Mirror's Edge and Dead Island - and I'm totally up for that. They got the founder of parkour to work with them on running/jumping/climbing mechanics, and from what I've seen, there are some really cool special attacks that involve parkour elements. In addition, zombies become much more alert and powerful at night, so if you're not back in your safe house by the time it gets dark, the game actually becomes quite scary - something Dead Island never really was.
Personally, while I enjoy Dead Island, I think it could use a more interesting combat system, more stuff to do when you're not on missions, and more interesting enemies. This game could have all of those things.

Yep, what valczir said - while Dead Island was a hack-n-slash, Dying Light is slightly more of a survival horror. Scavenge for food/supplies during the day, endure the night as best you can. The difference between the zombies throughout the night and day cycle is huge, as are the numbers.
Was looking forward to this one when it was announced back in 2013. Since then, I've ditched Windows and assumed that I'd closed the door on ever buying and playing this. Would LOVE to see it come to Linux.

Fantastic news for Linux gaming :) Though the 4 player co-op concerns me as well. The Borderlands/Dead Island thing isn't too appealing to me. I find playing co-op online stressful in those games, and the single player just isn't very good imo. But as long as it's balanced and the main game is actual good, maybe it'll be okay :S:

Fantastic visuals? Check. Rare in Linux? Hmmm. Off the top of my head (and I am not a morning person), how about Metro:Last Light or The Witcher 2? I admit that that's only two...maybe they are rare. No unpixelated game has dismayed me with its graphics. Yet.
Besides, for all the b*tching about how Windows games have better-looking water reflections, most graphics-intensive games look pretty identical to the Windows versions.
To me, anyway.
And, while it looks terrific, it is a shooter. I suck at shooters, suck the way Slash sucks at Guitar Hero (and he has publicized his suckage). And I haveLeft4Dead, Metro:Last Light, Painkiller:Hell and Damnation, and Borderlands2. I like to play them.
But I SUCK at them, which is why I think I have enough of them.
However: Turn-based strategy? Roguelike? Tower defense? Horror? RPG? I'm THERE.

It's always a good sign when AAA publishers support Linux. Linux has a lot of support from the indies but AAA games will attract more users. Now let's just hope Dying Light is a good game.

I must admit, while I absolutely do see your point, I accept Steam as DRM. I never buy any DRM games at full price. Which means, they lose money with the DRM (from me), but they still get money for the game.
I see it like "extended cinema". If I go to the cinema I pay for viewing a movie exactly one time. With a DRM game (that doesn't cost much more, especially if you consider the hours you'll get out of the game before the DRM [in case of a platform like steam] cripples you and hinders you to play [okay bad point if you buy the game a few hours before steam closes its ports forever ;)] I think it's pretty okay.
Sure, I prefer non-DRM and I pay the full price to show my gratitude, but I also buy steam-games. It never happened that I couldn't play a game anymore and if it happens and it's a really dear one to me, I'll find a way :)

$59.99 is steep for me, but this isn't some low-budget indie game. I'm willing to take a hit on my wallet to support a company taking a chance on us, especially one that puts penguins before apples.
