Good news folks, thanks to a comment on a recent article we were poked about taking a look at the progress of porting Outlast to Linux, and it seems to have a new private Linux build in testing.

This appeared on the SteamDB about 4 hours ago:

It's worth noting that the last Linux test build noted was 3 months ago, and we haven't heard anything from the developers on if/when it will arrive, but still, progress is great to see.

About the game (From Steam)
Hell is an experiment you can't survive in Outlast, a first-person survival horror game developed by veterans of some of the biggest game franchises in history. As investigative journalist Miles Upshur, explore Mount Massive Asylum and try to survive long enough to discover its terrible secret... if you dare.

Get ready to crap your pants. I'm not sure how long I will be able to play of it, as games like this really do make me cry like a baby. Well, not literally, but you know what I mean, they are bloody scary.

See Outlast on Steam, but do not buy it until the release.

Thanks for the poke HadBabits. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I just can't buy that game.

I am a grown man, and I refuse to be reduced to a sniveling heap of frayed nerves cowering in a corner of the room.

But the corner is where they hide. Better to stand in the middle of the room right under the light. Nothing can get you there (tried and tested).

I bought it. I play it ten minutes, then I cry for 15 days. Then I try again.

Played this game with my friend on Skype, hella scary especially when you're running out of light and the story is pretty good too.

@Liam: The game is also available on GOG, you might want to add a link to that for those who prefer a DRM-Free version: http://www.gog.com/game/outlast :-)

We only know it may come to Steam, no info on GOG, so we won't link it.

you always seem to put trailers into your articles..so i have to go to youtube to search for gameplay every time to see what the game really is.. though this trailer has some bits of gameplay.

it would be great if you add gameplay videos also. so its easier to check out in one place.
