Shadow Warrior Looks Like It Will Come To Linux

Cue heavy breathing, Shadow Warrior, the fantastic and brutal looking FPS from Flying Wild Hog and Devolver Digital has some very promising signs it's going to come to Linux.

The game has "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews on Steam from 5,804 people. With very few bad reviews, and that's quite amazing.

There is now a "Shadow Warrior Mac and Linux Testing" package on SteamDB, so it looks promising, but of course it's never confirmed until a developer shouts it out.

We shot off a cheeky tweet to the Devolver guys, and will update you if we get anything back.

This could quite easily be one of the secret games from Feral Interactive or Aspyr Media.

About the game
Shadow Warrior is a bold re-imagining of the classic 3D Realms’ shooter from independent developer Flying Wild Hog (Hard Reset) starring the legendary and quick-witted warrior Lo Wang. Combine the brute force of overwhelming firepower with the elegant precision of a katana to annihilate the merciless armies of the shadow realm in an exhilarating and visually stunning transformation of the classic first-person shooter.

Are you excited? I am! Pretty glad I have my new 970 to whack the details up on this bad boy.

I almost read "shout" as "shut" and had to reread it. Just a friendly tip that words close in spelling can read as the opposite. I've had that happen with reading a few articles here.

BTW, I never saw anything about Shadow Warrior until now. I'm definitely breathing heavily after watching the above video.

Uh, what? "Shout" isn't in the article?

As for words that can be read as an opposite, well, people need to not skim read ;).

Oh No! not another game that I already own from my Windows days, how am I expected to support these companies in their Linux ports?

I think Styromaniac means this part:

Quote[...] until a developer shouts it out.

I agree with you, though, Liam - misreading is on the reader, not the writer.

This game was really fun and was a perfect re-imagination of the original classic.
Really glad they decided to port it, I remember awhile back they said you would not.

Hmmmm...I already have Painkiller:Hell and Damnation, which treads similar ground. I suck at it, too. That doesn't make my own breathing rate faster;).

I was interested in it before, but not enough to get it... coming to linux is the nudge I needed. Once it goes on sale, Woot!!!

Simple. Buy it again and gift it to a fellow Linux user or a Linux using friend.

Very fun game that's well worth the money. The developers have a history going of making good PC exclusives. Maybe this means Hard reset will get a Linux port eventually.
