Back in June and July last year, we wrote about Torchlight and Torchlight II possibly coming to Steam for Linux, and a little while ago more SteamDB activity was noticed.

Again, sorry we are late on this, but a lot of articles got built up since I moved houses and "stuff".

22 days ago this popped up on SteamDB:
Quotesavefiles/9/platforms/1: Linux
savefiles/9/root: gameinstall
savefiles/10/path: save/{64BitSteamID}/
savefiles/10/pattern: *.bin
savefiles/10/platforms/1: Linux
savefiles/10/root: gameinstall
savefiles/11/path: save/{64BitSteamID}/
savefiles/11/pattern: *.txt
savefiles/11/platforms/1: Linux
savefiles/11/root: gameinstall
savefiles/12/path: modsave/{64BitSteamID}/
savefiles/12/pattern: *.svb
savefiles/12/platforms/1: Linux
savefiles/12/root: gameinstall

Of course, it's not solid confirmation, but pretty good supporting evidence to suggest it will release on Steam soon, or a new Humble Indie Bundle will come with it in. Either way we are excited.

About Torchlight II
The award-winning action RPG is back, bigger and better than ever! Torchlight II takes you back into the quirky, fast-paced world of bloodthirsty monsters, bountiful treasures, and sinister secrets - and, once again, the fate of the world is in your hands!

Torchlight II captures all the flavor and excitement of the original game - while expanding the world and adding the features players wanted most, including online and LAN co-op multiplayer. Torchlight II is fast, fun, and filled to the brim with action and loot. Adventure solo or online with your friends!

I love Torchlight 2 and have played it multiple times. I would love to play it again as there are many mods that are fantastic.

Quoting: GuestNow that I think of it, it’s true that the latest version of TL available in my Humble library has never worked and they didn’t bother fixing it… Will have to be careful before buying TL2.

TL1 world perfect for me from the Ubuntu Software Center, don't know if that had anything to do with it though. I have never had any of the weird glitches everyone said that they had, like the missing heads etc... Even managed to get some mods working.

When Torchlight hit the Ubuntu Software Center, it sill had the missing head (on the title page, mind you) glitch. Because USC adds a repository for purchased games, it got updated twice, and, on the second update, the game becane 99.999% bug-free. I still play it every month or so, when I'm not busy playing Steam games.

Torchlight II is a lot of fun, with many more game mechanics, and lots of quests, and, if it's a native version (OR if it has as good a wrapper as The Witcher 2 (which has become pretty bulletproof, or at least it has for me)) I'll be having a lot of fun.

Good news! Just checked the Steamdb, there is now 1.51 GB in it now, and updated an hour ago... hopefully really soon now!

Torchlight 2 on Linux would be awesome! The first game was fun but Torchlight 2 is so much better in any respect! Never looked back to the first game since its release. I still really like and enjoy it. Unfortunately, it's not working with Wine anymore since v1.7.17.

So Torchlight 2 on Linux would be a blast!
