VoidExpanse, an open-world space game with RPG elements, has reached beta status. In a recent blog post, the developer talked about its current status and future plans.
The game, covered recently by GOL, has everything you would expect from this sort of genre. The player is free to explore procedurally-generated galaxies, fight, gather resources, trade, join factions and customize his experience via skill trees. There's a story in place with events and different characters as well as multiplayer with persistent worlds so you can enjoy the experience both by yourself or with others. It's also easy to mod so there'll likely be a lot of interesting unofficial content coming up as well.
The game is still not finished nor will it likely be done for a little time yet despite its general stability and performance. The developer promises to work on it for as long as people are interested. It's also been greenlit on Steam, so it should be popping up there soon as well. You can get it directly from the developer and you should get a Steam key as well when it's available there.
The game is currently discounted until 21 Jan at the alpha price so if you're interested you may want to grab it before then.

Oh and the name doesn't mean anything but coincidentally could be pronounced as "Buttery" which suits me just fine.
